Piet
Hamberg (22-01-1954) played at Fc Groningen (youth) and became professional at
NEC Nijmegen in 1972 where he played till 1974. His next clubs were Wageningen
1974-76 and Fc Utecht 1976-78, before he moved to Sevette Geneva (he played
here till 1980) in Switserland. Ajax got interested in this multifunctional
player and transferred him in the 1980/81 season, where he played till 1983.
Piet became
a youth trainer at the Amsterdam club in 1983 till 1990, where he saw all the
talents from Bergkamp till Davids, and Kluivert, Van der Sar and Knopper walk
around. In the 1990/91 season he became trainer at amateur-club
IJsselmeervogels and Fc Groningen (1992-95).
In the
summer of 1995 he moved back to the Swiss mountains to become member of the
coaching staff at Grasshopper-Club Zurich (till December 1996). In the summer
of 1997 he became National Coach of the Youth Team of Saudi Arabia (till the
summer of 1999). Al Ahli (Lybia) became his club from July 1999 till December
1999. His last club became Grasshopper-Club Zurich from May 2000 as ad-interim
coach. Next seaon he will be youth trainer in Zurich…
