A SORT OF PORTRAIT SKRIBBLE TUTORIAL THINGY
Wot you have all bin waitin for ;^)
Part 5 ~ Facial Features
Time to refine the shaping and position of the facial features within the frame of the face shape produced by the hair.
5. MORE ALTERATIONS
This can take a bit of experimentation and just small or fine adjustments can make a face look completely different....... Everybody knows about pointy ears but if you adjust the angle of the eyes slightly, you can easily achieve a super elven look. Punch out the eyes to 150% of normal size and "anime-ish" effects can be obtained. Change the pupils from round to vertical and Hey-Presto! ~ Instant cat-girl. Extend the canine teeth just a fraction, put in a peaked hairline and here come the undead.......... The possibilities are endless :^)
5.1
So I've started playing about with the eyes, mess around until you're happy with where the eyes are positioned and their size and shape.
5.2
More or less happy with the eyes............. almost there :^)
5.3
Final adjustments to the eyes and starting to position the nostrils...........
5.4
Here we see that I have done a few more minor adjustments to the eyes. The nose position is about right and I am working on the mouth/lips. I have also put in a number of guide lines around the eyes as later toning guides, these are very faint and you will need good eyesight to just make them out. Also barely visible are cheekbone guides...... the lower mandible (chin) definition is also sketched in as a guide.
5.5
More minor adjustments and guides including adding some basic detail to her left ear, correcting the position of the pupil in her right eye and the addition of more shading guides on the bony structures.
5.6
Final attention is to the shape and positioning of the mouth and lips which I have added a bit of skribbled tone to in order to give them shape. Now it's time to sit back and stare hard for many, many long minutes......... I'm looking for any minor faults in positioning and shape which will be a major pain to correct later........ any adjustments now will be so small as to be undetectable by my happy little Kodak 2 megapixel ;^)
