Sometimes it seems as though I am always being asked whether I intend to skribble any more mermaids....... the opportunity arose when, earlier this year(2005), an art competition had that very title! So I'm sat sittin on this very uncomfortable rock waitin for the tide to go out, the seawater is flat as a proverbial mill-pond an I'm waitin for some kind of inspiration to come along on the inspiration bus! ..........Then, quiet as you like, with hardly a ripple, she drifts into view, never opens her eyes once an with ever so very, very slow swipes of her tail, she slides through the water and passes right by me!!!!!! Quick as a flash, I take out my A3 skribble pad and a selection of pencils and graphite sticks from H to 2B, erasers, blendin stumps an other stuff and set it all up on my pocket skribblin table. With lightnin speed I smudge this picture in front of me an............. I ended up with a merlady image, that is slightly different from my previous drawings..... before she just sinks beneath the surface an vanishes!! More than a few days work with mucho graphite and smokin tortillons........ Not a bad skribble ;^) |
