Heaven Eyes

Inspired by the eponymous book by David Almond, and developed from there.

'We is happy', she says
And she looks just like Heaven Eyes
A girl with her own way of looking at things
She lives on the sweetness
Hides from the pale thin ghosts
A girl with her own way of looking at things
Of seeing things

'How can I break out?' She turns to me...
'What can I do?' Her eyes question me...
'If I could only...' I say, and she stops...
'I would take you there myself'

'Make me happy', she says
And smiles just like Heaven Eyes
A girl with her own way of looking at things
So small in this world's grand plan
Getting lost in these shapes and schemes
The girl with her own way of looking at things
Of seeing things

'How can I break out?' She turns to me...
'What can I do?' Her eyes question me...
'If I could only...' I say, and she stops...
'I would take you there myself'

'Are you happy?' he says
And turns on her his Heaven Eyes
This girl with her own way of seeing things
She believed all the pretty words
Held fast in the web they wove
The girl with her own way of looking at things
Of seeing things

'How can I break out?' She turns to me...
'What can I do?' Her eyes question me...
'If I could only...' I say, and she stops...
'I would take you there myself'
