The Baptism
The fear and exhilaration of falling in love.
Still waters run deep, and you my friend great secrets keep
I watch them surge beneath you move
They flow through you in veins of gold
As sunsets burn across mighty seas, two elements join silently.
Swept away and one last breath and now I will succumb
I’ll lose myself, let myself be overcome
Surrender is my sweet release, I’ll follow on the tide
The moon pulls, my heart calls to welcome you inside.
Drowning is frightening but when I fall into you, I smile…
Waves close over my eyes, I’m drifting so far
Blue-green in stillness, one image forms, my love…
Swept away and one last breath and now I will succumb
I’ll lose myself, let myself be overcome
Surrender is my sweet release, I’ll follow on the tide
The moon pulls, my heart calls to welcome you inside.
(spoken)
She lay down her body in the ocean to sleep
Closed those blue eyes in the waters so deep
And nothing was heard but one sweet haunting cry
Echoing high to the heavenly skies.
Baptized by your desires, washed clean again, I’ll drink you in.
Lilies float on the water as the secrets break and crash ashore
And arms outstretched like angels wings, I’ll let this love take me again.
Swept away and one last breath and now I will succumb
I’ll lose myself, let myself be overcome
Surrender is the sweet release, I’ll follow on the tide
The moon pulls, my heart calls to welcome you inside.
