I believe that God
made everything in the universe in six days.
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth.
The following table shows which
things were made on which days.
Day |
Non living things |
Living Things |
Spiritual Things |
Notes |
The First Day |
Heaven and Earth, time, space, matter Light. |
|
|
Earth was without form. Light was from God, not from the sun. (see Rev. 21) |
The Second Day |
Air, sky, the atmosphere, the firmament. |
|
Angels (Job 38:1-4 and Ezekiel 28:13-14) |
The firmament divided the water that made the ocean and the water that was floating above the atmosphere. |
The Third Day |
Dry land (foundations of the earth were laid) and distinct seas. Plants of all types. |
|
|
Plants are not considered “living things” in the Bible. They are a self-replicating food source. There was no death in the world until Adam sinned. So all living things ate the plants, see Isaiah 11:7 |
The Fourth Day |
Lights in the sky, the sun, the moon, the stars also. |
|
|
|
The Fifth Day |
|
All living things in the water, the birds that fly in the firmament, and large sea creatures. |
|
Note that the birds fly in the firmament, so it is not the dry land. |
The Sixth Day |
The Garden of Eden (see Gen. 2:8) |
All the animals along with Adam and Eve |
|
Note in Genesis 1:30 that all the animals ate the green plants, there were no meat eaters. The lions ate grass like the ox. See Isaiah 65:25 |
The Seventh Day |
|
|
|
It was finished and perfect. There was no death, no sin, and Satan had not fallen yet. God rested. |
Exodus 20:11
For in
six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the
LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Isaiah 40:22 - 26
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants
thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a
curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
That bringeth the princes
to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
Yea, they shall not be
planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in
the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the
whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
To whom then will ye liken
me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high,
and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host
by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that
he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Matthew 19:4
And he answered and said unto
them, Have ye not read, that he which made them
at the beginning made them male and female
Mark 10:6
But from the beginning of the
creation God made them male and female.
Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible
Hebrews 1:10
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Due to the fact that God made Adam and Eve in the beginning, and we know how long these people lived and their descendants, we can calculate the age of the earth.
Adam was the first man…
I Corinthians 15:45a
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a
living soul…
Eve was the first woman…
Genesis 3:20
And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was
the mother of all living.
Adam was 130 years old when his son Seth was born.
Genesis 5:3
And Adam lived an hundred and
thirty years, and begat a son in his own
likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth.
Genesis 5:8-9 tell us the ages of the descendants of Adam.
Adam lived 130 years and begat Seth.
Seth lived 105 years
and begat Enos
Enos lived 90 years and begat Cainan.
Cainan lived 70 years
and begat Mahalaleel.
Mahalaleel lived 65 years and begat Jared.
Jared lived 162 years and begat Enoch.
Enoch lived 65 years and begat Methuselah.
Methuselah lived 187 years and
begat Lamech.
Lamech lived 182 years and begat
Noah.
Noah was 600 years old when the
world wide flood began, killing all living things on the earth that have
breath.
So creation started on year 0, let
us add up the years from Adam to the flood.
130 + 105 + 90 + 70 + 65 + 162 +
65 + 187 + 182 + 600.
In the year of creation, 1656
the great world wide flood began, killing all living things on the earth that
have breath.
Genesis 5:32
And Noah was five hundred years
old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noah lived 500 years old and begat
his three sons.
Shem lived 102 years and begat
Arphaxad.
Arphaxad live 35 years and begat
Salah.
Salah lived 30 years and begat
Eber.
Eber lived 34 years and begat
Peleg; Peleg means the earth divided (possibly from the tower of Babel)
Peleg lived 30 years and begat Reu.
Reu lived 32
years and begat Serug.
Serug lived 30 years and begat Nahor.
Nahor lived 29 years and begat Terah.
Terah
lived 20 years and begat Abram.
The
time from creation to the great world wide flood was 1656 years
Let us add the years from the flood to Abram
2 + 35 + 30 + 34 + 30 + 32 + 30 + 29 + 20.
In the year of creation (1656 + 242=) 1898 Abram
was born
Genesis 21:5
And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son
Isaac was born unto him.
Abraham lived 100 years and begat Isaac.
Isaac lived 60 years and begat Jacob.
Jacob lived 37 years and begat Joseph.
Col 2:8
Take care
that no one takes you away by force, through man's wisdom and deceit, going
after the beliefs of men and the theories of the world, and not after Christ:
