We will start by discussing the 7 Millennium Items. First will be the Millenium puzzle/pyramid The Millennium Items have exsisted for many years.They have the power to start "Shadow Games", these games can bring the players into an alternate realm, summoning real Duel Monsters, and inflicting a penalty upon the losers which could affect the mind or body or both. Each Item possesses its own unique abilities. About 3000 years ago a pharoh, Yami Yugi, in Egypt sacrificed himself to lock the evil spirits inside the Millennium Items. He himself ended up being locked inside the Millennium pyramid as extra precaution to prevent the powers of the Shadow Games from being released it was turned into into a puzzle and placed in the pharoh's tomb. Yugi Moto, a distant relative of Yami Yugi has the Millennium puzzle, he solves the puzzle by putting it together. This unlocks the shadow games and Yami Yugi's spirit. It transferes Yami Yugi's spirit into Yugi Moto's body. Now sharing the same body, Yugi Moto agrees to help Yami Yugi get back his lost memories by dueling. The Millenium puzzle hold the power to grant one wish to the person who assembles the puzzle, it increases the chances of the holder wining a game, it allows the user to use "mind crush" which can sparate the good and evil in someone and banish the evil. There is a giant labyrinth inside the puzzle. It has many stairs and rooms, Dark Yugi's soul is in one of the rooms. The labyrinth is inside the puzzle to protect and keep people from finding Dark Yugi's soul. The puzzle has been passed through many people's hands. Yami Yugi got the puzzle from his father. After Yami Yugi sealed himself inside the puzzle the puzzle was put in his tomb. Acheologists found the puzzle and Yugi Moto's grandfather got the puzzle, Yugi found the puzzle in his grandfather's shop. The puzzle has some hieroglyphics on it that read: "The one who solves me shall gain the powers of knowledge and powers of darkness..." The Millennium Ring has the power to transfer souls. It transferes the soul of a person into an object. It can also split a soul into peices, then transfere the soul shards into objects. It is said to be the most dangerous millennium item because a powerful demon, Zorc Necrophades sealed a shard of himself into the Ring. 
Mahado set traps around the tomb and sealed the ring in the tomb with the Millennium items, however this did not stop a tomb-robber named Bakura from trying to steal the ring. After getting the ring he played a shadow game and lost, his price was his soul being locked inside the ring. Zorc took over control of Theif Bakura's soul. The ring has been passed through many hands over history, however it ended up corrputing many of those hands including Alexander the Great. The Ring ended up with Ryo Bakura, it was a gift from his father. Theif Bakura (being controled by Zorc) took over Ryo Bakura's body. Zoroc is trying to collect all the millenium items to revive his full form and self. The ring has the ability to detect other Millenium items. When it senses an item it will raise one of it's points and point in the direction of the Millennium item. 
This item grants the holder the power of bending the wills of others through mind control, and also lets its user telepathically communicate with his/her servants. The rod acts as a sword, since it has a sword hidden inside it, and the shaft can be used as a sheath. Marik Ishtar is the user of the rod. He was one of the many to endured a painful ritual, against his will, which gave birth to his dark side, Dark Marik, he then took the Millennium Rod and used the blade to kill his own father. Then started on his quest for world domination. A false Millennium Rod was created and given to Odion Ishtar, who was disguising himself as Marik at the time. After Marik's defeat at Battle City, he gave the Millennium Rod to Yugi.
