Grand Canyon

I hope you enjoyed that short trip – only four hours - from Four Corners. D is your next letter for the mystery word. After you answer the questions about the Grand Canyon, you’ll have quite a long trip, 750 miles, to your final destination, the Golden Gate Bridge.

Grand Canyon National Park encompasses 1,218,375 acres on the Colorado Plateau in northwestern Arizona. The Colorado River runs through the base of the Grand Canyon. At its deepest point, the Grand Canyon is 6,000 feet deep (as deep as a 600 story building) and 15 miles wide (about the length of 264 football fields lined up end to end).

1. How many different species of vascular plants (plants) are located in the Grand Canyon?
2. When did the Grand Canyon become a National Park?
3. How many miles long is the Grand Canyon?
