Grand Canyon National Park encompasses 1,218,375 acres on the Colorado Plateau in northwestern Arizona. The Colorado River runs through the base of the Grand Canyon. At its deepest point, the Grand Canyon is 6,000 feet deep (as deep as a 600 story building) and 15 miles wide (about the length of 264 football fields lined up end to end).
