Tansi:
Mon nom est Brendan Cross, I'm from the Saulteaux First Nation.
I am honoured to have been elected to be your Vice-President, and I am glad to accept in the presence of our national leader, Chief Patrick Brazeau, who I welcome and admire.
There was a time years ago that I told CBC News I wished to speak for "the forgotten people" as a young leader of the First Nations Party.
My heart felt heavy as I viewed the challenges faced in urban centers by aboriginal people who might have felt helpless or hopeless dealing with their bands and governments, both federal and provincial.
As a communicator and a friend of those of many political stripes, I will work hard to echo your concerns when asked to speak, and learn from my president and yours.
I will follow all of you when you lead, and lead when you need.
Merci beaucoup, Meegwetch.
