8:31pm

Angela and I just got home from a brave trip into the city. (I read a book of Winnie-The-Poohisms in a bookstore the other day that said, "A good friendship is one in which you have many fears in common." That's why Angela and I get along so well, I think.) Arron met us at the train station so we had no chance to get lost. We liked that. I was supposed to go busking at Southbank where I was to meet Aileen's friend, Sabine, but as it turned out we didn't get moving until much too late. That was sort of self-defeating on my part as I really didn't want to go busking today anyway. But Arron walked us down there (it was surprisingly easy) and now that I have some sense of the place, I think I'd be able to make it down there by myself. I have a few Sundays left.

Today I met Jody Hanson and confirmed my initial inkling that she and I are completely different people in every way. We had arranged to meet her "at the waterfall" at the Crown Casino. My only clues to her physical appearance were that she would probably be wearing black or white and she has bright red hair. After waiting 25 minutes under the lights in the crystals and the playful water fountains set to music inside the Casino and approaching a redhead in black and white track pants whose name was not Jody, we decided to check a different waterfall. We found Jody at the outside waterfall. She was wearing bright green.

We went to a restaurant of Arron's choosing where Angela and I ordered the same lentil dahl. I liked it, she didn't. Arron, with his expertise in cooking, and Jody, with her extensive background of eating quality food, decided that the dahl just wasn't cooked right. They brought it to the attention of the mouthy waiter who informed them that "no one has ever complained about the dahl". He obviously didn't learn the "customer is always right" rule.

Afterward, we walked through the casino where Jody caught a cab. Angela and Arron bought me ice cream and we sat by the river. The river is polluted and dirty and Angela kept making mutated mermaid comments, but it's pretty if you don't look too closely.

Finally we went to the restaurant where Arron works and picked up his car and drove back to Frankston. Now I'm watching "At First Sight" thinking about the way its corniness contrasts my real life love. Alex just came in from a refreshing swim. The pool is still holding heat from the day.

Angela is a very strong girl. Sometimes she doesn't realize it as much as she should. Today we made plans for her to come to Canada and for the next time I come here. She is a good friend for me to have. She is a generous person.

Sometimes I really love this place. But next time, I'm bringing Shaughn. 9:29pm

A gorgeous blonde boy with a bicycle and an accent approached Angela and I at the train station in Frankston and asked which direction the beach was. I react differently to gorgeous boys these days. I look at them and hope they find someone as perfect for them as I am for Shaughn.10:18pm
