I'm sitting in the orientally themed lounge room of Aileen's mother's house. It is the sort of house that always had alcohol in crystal around, just to give you an idea of the place. There is a very different feel to a house where they don't bother hiding the alcohol away in a cupboard. It smells very clean here.
Today I am getting a sense of Aileen's life and motivations and attitudes toward her current living situation. I get different sides of stories from everyone in that house and it's interesting to put them all together, step back and look at the shape it's taken.
Aileen offerred an excuse to get out of the house this afternoon to accompany her errandrunning. It reminded me of when my mom does the same thing. The whole thing has been pretty similar actually.
We went shopping and I bought an xmas present for my mommy. Then Aileen bought me lunch. It was the first thing I've gotten from a restaurant here that actually tasted the way I expected. I really am impressed with this family's generosity. They hardly ever let me pay for anything and won't listen to any of my insisting.
Then we went to visit Aileen's sister-in-law, Jocelyn, at Tara's Garden Art where she works. Jocelyn's the one that bought my CD. Apparently the kids have been enjoying it. The shop was quite groovy and I kept thinking Dana would like all the ceramic fish in there.
I think when I get home, I'll learn to be more appreciative of my mom. 5:04pm

I impatiently want to write two entries at once about things that happened in my day:
One starts like this:
The problem with Britney Spears is that she's teaching the little girls of the world about sex appeal before they are aware of their reproductive organs.
And the other:
Everything is so alive here.
I mean, really, she doesn't even understand her own.
Everything in Canada is sleeping under the snow.
Today Aileen and I went visiting and I met her neice, Tianna (3), and nephew, Jordan (1), the children of Jocelyn and Thomas, the people who bought my CD.
Tonight after tea, Steve took me for a ride on his Harley.
The kids, apparently, really dig my music. Jocelyn got the CD out to show them that I was the same Sarah and Tianna made her put it on.
Aileen took photos of course.
The kids warmed up to me quickly. Tiana decided she wanted to dance, so she got out her Britney CD. I watched her mimic Britney's sexy dance moves and hair tossing and reflected upon the fact that she had no idea what she was imitating. Jordan spun around with his security blanket until he was stumbling dizzy and then gave the carpet heck when it wouldn't stop moving.
It was a good ride through all the full green along winding roads. I breathed in and the smell was energizing. The wind blew cold up my sleeves where I held on to Steve's leather jacket. I thought about bikers and their women, the culture of it.
I liked visiting today. The kids made me miss Michael and Noah. I thought about all the ways I could be a good parent someday. I looked at the way people's houses were decorated and imagined what mine will look like.
That's about all I wanted to say. Just had to say them simultaneously. I am happy today. 9:42pm
