CFCR sarah did an interview/performance promoting "An Acoustic Evening" with jimmy and shaughn on Saskatoon's Community Radio Station CFCR 90.5 FM on Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 a.m. it was happy and fun as sarah's come to expect all cfcr activities to be.
HERSTORY sarah, jimmy and shaughn appeared at a celebration of women acknowledging "herstory month" on friday, october 13. the coffeehouse was presented by the u of s women's centre. sarah and her boys did a 30 minute set that went quite well indeed. other notable performers: the oldrey sisters, riki yandt, and jen lane.
HUMBOLT sarah and jimmy and shaughn appeared at "the prairie perk" in jimmy's hometown of humbolt on friday, october 6 at 8pm. jimmy did a set of his originals for the audience (largely made up of ramsay relatives), and it was followed by a set of sarahsongs. all three performers were impressed by the generosity of the humbolt audience and hope to play there again soon.
TASTE the annual Taste of Saskatchewan festival was held riverside in beautiful saskatoon once again. the festival ran from july 20-23 and sarah appeared on sunday, july 23 at 1pm with new guitar guy, jimmy ramsay. some new material was featured. some of it, happy. despite competing with both the loud boats on the river and blasted commercial radio, the show was splenderfic. see the scene for other artists of interest at taste.

FLATLAND FESTIVAL sarah appeared with sister amy on background vocals at the Flatland Music Festival in Regina's Victoria Park on Friday, July 7. it was sarah's first time at the festival which is presented by the Saskatchewan Recording Industry Association. check out the sites linked above for more info on this FREE weekend-long concert.
PRIDE WEEK the gay and lesbian awards (GALA) were part of this year's pride week celebrations and sarah appeared at them during a break between her sister amy's grad ceremony and the following dance on june 30. she played some songs about girls to an appreciative audience and ran back to grad.
GRAD sarah's sister and other half, amy, is graduating this year from aden bowman collegiate institute. on june 30, sarnamy performed "i just wanna dance with you" at the grad banquet. grama expressed her happiness that "those girls are finally playing some good songs"
ARTS CAFE as part of the pride week celebrations, Gay and Lesbian Health Services put on a Arts Cafe Nite on monday, june 26. sarah and diane, who works at GLHS, hosted the open stage poetry/music nite. some brave people bared their souls through poetry, song, and the occasional piece of erotica.
CAMP EASTER SEAL BENEFIT sarah was asked by a friend of a friend of a friend to play the camp easter seal benefit cabaret on june 3. she was happy to oblige. sarah and her new guitar guy, jimmy ramsay, performed along with three other bands. it was good for sarah and jimmy to get out of the basement (where they spent the whole week rehearsing) and onto the stage. a new a cappella song went over very well.
CASA IN MAY after a significant absence from "real shows", sarah hoped to make it up with two shows at cafe casa on broadway on saturday, may 6th and saturday, may 13th. riki yandt, a songwriter friend of sarah's with a deliciousrich voice, opened the show on the 6th with a half hour set. riki and her father, blaine, played a very impressive set of rikioriginals as well as some ani covers and the like. the 13th show's opener was the one and only jimmy ramsay, director of the newman coffeehouses that sarah is so fond of. jimmy did a set of mostly originals followed by three songs with sarah followed by sarah's set. amy also sang with sarah at both shows.
WOMEN'S FEST after having three different plays fall through due to various staging, casting, and scheduling problems (those 25th st. people are sooo patient;), sarah settled on doing a music show called "sarahsongs" at 25th St. Theatre's 2nd Annual Women's Festival. the show took place on tuesday march 7 from 9:45 to 10:30pm at St. John's Cathedral Hall, 816 Spadina Crescent East. if you missed this show you should be kicking yourself for two reasons: "sarahsongs" featured brand new material with accompaniment from luke ryalls on guitar and vocals.
STEFANSON INVASION the talented and gorgeous stefanson family invaded cafe casa on broadway on saturday, february 26 at 9:30pm for an evening of acoustic stefansonsongs. sarah, amy, dana, shanda, julie, and wilson (as well as some stefanson dadddys, rick and barry) played in various permutations and combinations for a night of splenderific sounds.
YAA sarah was named a semi-finalist in ytv's youth acheivement awards in the vocal category along with 30-35 other artists.
VARIETY NITE aden bowman's variety nite was on friday, february 11. sarnamy appeared with a look described as "the spice girls play lilith fair". this marks sarah's third consecutive variety nite, only one of those as an actual student of aden bowman collegiate. it was also one of the first public gigs for the sisters together. sarah thinks they performed well but the mix was not so good. unfortunately, there were alot of really good acts that couldn't be heard as well as they should've due to technical difficulties. amy's happy. all the money raised from the sold out show went toward unicef.
NEWMAN sarahandaaron played their third newman coffeehouse together in the st. thomas moore auditorium on the u of s campus on saturday, january 22. amy also joined them on jay hails' "hand in my hand". it was an, as always, interesting show. some of the highlights of which were jimmy's singing voice, a very nice cover of a tori amos song (not that i like tori amos;) and a performance by asarahupdate list member, a sweet girl named krista.
NESS OPEN STAGE sarahandaaron appeared at the ness creek open stage at lydia's on thursday, january 20. their three-song set went quite well, despite sarah's current sickness of the nose and throat. they made a couple new drunk fans. and sarah had a nice conversation with some houseofbeatsboys.
TEACHING sarah has been playing teacher this week. on wednesday, january 12, she did a presentation on the finer points of songwriting for two creative writing classes at aden bowman collegiate. the class went rather well as the students seemed to be genuinely interested in the subject matter and asked excellent questions. on friday, sarah talked to mr. butler's "keen" class of grad nines. this was the first time a class has taken notes at sarah's presentation.
