it's as if your fingers are reaching inside my heart and rearranging the things that they find there
and with all the world about you,
aren't you sneaky?
aren't you fleeting?
aren't your tricks appealing?
you are what i wish i had
(if only i could catch that)
but you're so far
out of mind
if you'll let me touch your heart too
maybe we could come across some common ground
and i could set down my butterfly net
i could set down my butterfly net
yes, i could set down my butterfly net
aren't you sneaky?
aren't you fleeting?
aren't your tricks appealing?

sarah says: in the summer of 1996, i met tomko lamb on the street at the fringe festival here in saskatoon. tomko is a dulcimer player/street busker/professional musician and a beautiful, beautiful man. the fringe, incidentally my absolute favourite time of any year, always brings him back to me. anyway, in 96 i think i probably came off as a groupie, but since then i feel that tomko and i have developed something that vaguely resembles a friendship. i hope that he would agree. i wrote this song while listening to his cd 'songs for margaret'.
