Chapter One

Anna had finished her packing by Friday morning, and decided to just sit around, mope, and drown her sorrows in a bucket of Ben and Jerry's. Around 11:00, there was a knock at the door.

"Hi! Is anyone home?" Came a sweet sounding voice from behind the screen door.

"One second!" cried Anna, as she rushed to open the lock.

"Hi!" said the woman, "I'm Jane, and... you must be Anna!"

"Hello Mrs. Carter, how are you? Please come in.. Umm.. my mother will be down with you in a few minutes, just let me call her." said Anna, quietly, as she walked towards the intercom.

"Oh, call me Jane, and actually, I came over to see 'you'!" said Mrs. Carter, as she stopped Anna, smiling widely, "Well, seeing how you'll be staying with us... I figured we might get re-acquainted! It's been so long!"

"All right.. would you like some coffee?" Anna asked her, politely.

"No thanks, hon.. oh my! How you've grown! You're gorgeous!" cried Mrs. Carter, taking a step back.

"Oh thank you Mrs. Cart.. Jane.. But I'm not! Really!" blushed Anna.

"Still a sweet heart! How long has it been! Four.. five years!?

"I think it's been four.. So.. how are the twins?" inquired Anna.

"They're fine! Leslie's well too! Bobbie.. well.." Mrs. Carter started

"Bobbie?" said Anna, prominently surprised.

"Oh, that's right! You weren't very well acquainted with two of them.. my oldest, Nicky and Bobbie... Gosh.. I can't believe I forgot, after all, that's why you started sitting for us! You met Bobbie at the twin's eight birthday party, but Nick came in late.. you never met him!"

"Well, I look forward to meeting them." said Anna

"You won't say that once you have!," Jane said, with a smile, "Isn't it great? All of us ending up in the same place again! Evelyn.. your mother and I had such a difficult time parting.. she was one of my greatest friends, you know, and the twins really missed you"

"I missed them too.."

"So, what's new in your life?"asked Mrs. Carter, with a grin.

"Well... nothing really, I've been taking a whole bunch of classes at Fenton Place, just acting, singing, and I'm starting an internship at Studio One, the day after tommorow.." Anna said, "But that's all!"

"Well that's good.. so.. um.. do you have all of your things ready? If you want, we can take it all over now.." offered Mrs. Carter, kindly.

Anna slowly sunk down onto the couch, will a distant look on her face, "Um.. that's all right, Mrs.Carter.. I can bring it all over in the morning.." Jane sat down next to her, and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Oh, hon, I know you don't want to stay with us, and your mother told me how upset you were when you found out that they were going off... but I promise you sweetie, it won't be that bad! The kids love you! They always used to ask about you! I know you'll miss your parents.. but.. oh.. hon, it'll be all right!"

"Thank you Mrs. Carter, I'm sorry if I am acting ungrateful.. I really do appreciate your giving me a place to stay! It's just, I really don't know.. I was looking forward to spending a little time with my family.. But really, that won't be happening.."

Mrs. Carter gave Anna a quick hug, "Don't say that.. just let things be.. things will change..."

"Thank you.. I really appreciate that.. well.. maybe we 'should' bring my things over now.. "

Mrs. Carter smiled and they went upstairs to get Anna's mother.

"Evelyn!" Called Jane, when she got to the top of the stairs, "Are you up there?"

"Jane!" Cried Mrs. Green from inside her room, the two women proceeded to kiss each other's cheeks, and hug, accordingly, "You look terrific!"

"Oh Evelyn, don't flatter me! Gosh.. how 'are' you!"

"Fine, fine! I see you've met Anna!"

"Oh yes! I wanted to know if we should take her bags out to the car.. Figured I should ask you first.."

"Anna!" commanded Mrs. Greene, "Bring your bags out to the Lexus, you can drive it down to the Carter's, and then drive back, and then you can take your car over.. that's all right, isn't it, Jane?"

"She doesn't have to do all that! I'll bring the kids over, and they can help!"

"No, we are troubling you enough! Anna, go, immediately!"

"B..but.."called out Mrs. Carter, as Anna left the room.

"She'll be okay."

At around eight o'clock, that night, Mr. and Mrs. Greene, left for the airport, and Anna stayed home by herself, getting ready to head over to the Carter residence later that evening.

She checked all of the windows and doors, and made sure she had tightened all of the faucets, before picking up her purse, and leaving the house.

At around nine forty-five, Anna arrived at the Carters' in her black Camaro, and hurried up to the front door. She rang the door bell, and within a minute, the door was opened by a tall, beautiful blonde.
