Hi, welcome to the village of Out Going! These people have had the chance to meet the bsb arn't they lucky!
The show began at 8:00 p.m. with the wonderful singing and dancing of Tatyana Ali, who really hyped up the crowd for the Backstreet Boys. After her 20 minute performance, 40 uneventful minutes passed before the Backstreet Band-dressed entirely in white-ran up on stage.
The next four minutes could have came straight out of a Star Wars movie. The 10 dancers appeared, carring lanterns onto the stage, in a procession to the sound of the theme from (you guessed it!) Star Wars. Then our boys appeared, flying on space-boards, and the crowd wet mad.
To thunderous screams "landed" on stage and marched around with the dancers in military precision. "All you people, can't you see, can't you see..." boomed from the speakers, which marked the start of "Larger Than Life" This high-energy performance was followed by another-"Get Down."
After those two songs, Nick introduced himself (like we didn't already know who he was!) and thanked the audience. He had his up in a ponytail. Then the other four introduced themselves. AJ's hair was brown (no seriously!), Brian's was as it usually is(like on the cover of "Millenium"), Howie's was tied back, as usual, and Kevin's was little bit longer and a bit wild.
The next song was "The One," which slowed down the fast pace of the show...a little The guys all wore black outfits, but they each had individual touches to them. AJ wore a hat, for instance.
"As Long As you Love Me" was the next song, and the Boys included the now famous "chair routine," which was continued by the male dancers as TheBackstreet Boys left the stage.
When they returned, they broke into " Don't Want To Lose You Now." They sat in the middle of the stage, which was elevated.
As the song progressed, the guys got up from their chairs and walked around the stage. When Brian came near me I jumped and waved like crazy- he saw m, smiled, and waved back!!!
"Quit Playin' Games With my Heart" was next. They walked around the stage for this one, no dancing. Nick was right infront of me when the second verse started, he sang " I live my life the way to keep you coming back to me," and of course I was screaming "I LOVE YOU!!" He saw me, and after..."keep you coming back to me" he added "that's you!" and pointed straight at me and smiled!!!
I heard everyone whispering nasty comments about me after that, but I didn't care I was in heaven. The Boys got clipped into their harnesses near the end of the song and they started flying throught he air. Kevin was doing flips and Nick winked at my friend, who was sitting right below where he was flying.
Then they left the stage to change into black outfits (again). The band started playing "Don't Want You Back," and the Boys appeared from above the center of the stage. They sounded great considering they were hanging upside down from ladders for half the song.
After a quick costume change, five prechosen mothers and daughters joined the Backstreet Boys on the stage. Each mother and daughter was put with a Backstreet Boy. Kevin told the audience that Brian had written the next song, "The Perfect Fan" for his mom, and dedicated it to all the mothers and daughters in the audience. The guys walked around the stage for half the song, then they took the daughters' hands and walked around with them while they were singing.
The mothers and daughters returned to the audience and Brian asked everyone if they had the new album yet. "YES!!" was the answer shouted in unison by about 10,000 people.
He then asked everyone if they liked it. "YES!!" was the reply obviously.
He then asked everyone what their favorite song was from the album. The reply was a mixture of all 12 songs. He told us that his favorite was "The Perfect Fan", and he asked Nick what his favorite was. He replied, "Spanish Eyes," and asked A.J. the same question. His answer was "Don't want you Back".
Brian sat down with A.J. Nick and Howie, who were sitting on the edge of the central stage. Howie was pretending to play an inflatible guitar. "So what's your favorite Howie?" A.J. asked. "Spanish Guitar, I mean eyes"
The audience groaned. "Very funny D" said Nick. Then Brian said "I kind of like that song that Kevin wrote too"
"Which one is that then" A.J. said jokingly, in his fake english accent (it's rather good actually). Then Kevin appeared from the center of the stage, sitting in front of a white grand piano. He started playing "Back to your Heart" and the central stage rose upward until it was about 15 feet from the main stage. The boys then left the stage after the song.
There was a short delay before the next song. We heard thunder and the video screans showed wierd, digidly produced images. Then the central stage rose again. The dancers were hanging onto a net which hung from it and the music for "Everybody Backstreet's Back" began.
Then Bsb appeared from the middle of the stage. The boys and the dancers were all dressed in riped up clothing. AJ riped his shirt totally off, unfortunatly he had a shirt on underneath. Predictibly, but still funny, here's what happened during the song:
Nick: Am I original?
Audience: Yeah!
Brian: Am I the only one?
Audience: Yeah!
Nick: Am I sexual?
Audience: YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I thought it was funny.
The boys broke into "We've got it going on" next, which in turn changed into "That's the Way I Like It" Howie stood for like 20 seconds right in front of me. I was jumping up and down trying to get his attention when he finally looked at me!! He smiled too.
They changed into pink trousers, white shirts and grey waistcoats and sang "I'll Never Break Your Heart" which was followed by "No One Else Comes Close"
Then they left the stage and returned wearing long pink jackets, which matched there trousers. They looked like gansters dressed in there "zoot-suits".
"All I Have To Give" was next, and the hat routine was VERY impressive. "Show Me The Meaning" was the next song. This was one of the highlights of the show for me-even though there was no impressive dancing like in "Larger Than Life" Howie dedicated the song to there late producer, Denniz Pop, which was very emotional. As they say there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
The female dancers were dancing alone during the song, until they were each eventually joined with a Boy. In my opinion, the girls were very inapproprately dressed their dresses barly covered their butts considering what a sad song it was. They have no shame (Help! I'm starting to sound like my Mom!.)
That was the last song before the encores. After waving goodbye to the crowd and leaving the stage, the Boys returned to the music of " It's Gotta Be You." They were wearing matching outfits. Nick wore a vest so you were able to see his tattoo, and AJ wore this cute little black hat. They introduced the 10 dancers, and let them do a pairs dance.
Then they intodused the band, I'm pretty sure Tommy got the most applause. They thanked the crowd, and then bowed on each side of the stage. Then they left as confetti poured down onto the crowd and fireworks went off.
"I want it that way" was the second encore. Howie thanked us for making it number one on the charts and began to sing. The guys held their microphones out to the audience could sing along- or screem along, really. Howie, accompanied by security gaurds, touched the front rows hands. I touched his hand!! I touched his hand!! It was sweaty, but nice. And then they left for the last time.
It was an incredable end to a incredible evening. The dancers were incredible, the band was incredible, but most of all the Boys were incredible.
