Kaycee at da bat!
Revision of "Casey at the bat" by Ernest Lawrence Thayer
Kaycee at the bat!
The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Krudville nine that day:
The score stood four and two but only one inning left to play:
And then Jessy died at first, then erin did the same:
A sickly silence fell upon the parents watching the game:
But Jojo preceded Kaycee, and so did Jessy Small:
They both got up to bat, but didn't quite hit that ball:
So upon the stricken saddness grim the meloncholy sat:
For then it seemed a little chance that Kaycee would get to bat:
But Jes let drive a single to the amazement of it all:
Then Jojo with her skills, well she hit the cover off that ball:
And when the dirt had settled and the parents saw what occured:
There was Jojo safe at second, and Jessy was at third:
But then from many parents' throats there became a krusty yell:
it rumbled through that ghetto town and rattled all that smelled:
It knocked upon the swamp and echoed like a rat:
For Kaycee, mighty Kaycee was advancing to the bat!
There was ease in Kaycee's manner as she stepped into her place:
There was pride in Kaycee's eyes and a smile on her face:
And when, responding to the cheers, jiggled her blubber fat:
No stranger in the crowd could doubt,'twas Kaycee at the bat!
Ten dozen eyes were on her as she rubbed her hands in dirt:
Five dozen mouths applauded when she wiped them on her shirt:
Then as the pitcher Pollock got the ball at her hip:
Determination gleamed in Kaycee's eye,a sneer curled Kaycee's lip:
And now the leather covered ball came spinning through the air:
And Kaycee stood a-watchin it come from here to there:
Close by the sturdy batgirl the ball unheeded sped:
"That aint my style," said Kaycee."Strike one!" the umpire said:
From the benches packed with people, there was a monsterous roar:
Like the screaming of a ghetto king who couldn't get his whore:
"Kill her!Kill the umpire!" shouted a parent in the stand:
And it's likey they'd have killed her had Kaycee not raised her hand:
She signalled to the pitcher, and once more the ball threw:
But Kaycee still ignored it,and the umpire said"Strike two!"
But then her face grew stern and cold, they saw her muscles strain:
And they knew that Kaycee wouldn't let the ball go by again:
And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now she lets it go:
And the air is shattered by the force of mighty Kaycee's blow:
Ahh, somewhere in this ghetto land, the sun is shining bright:
The rap is playing somewhere, and somewhere there are lights:
And somewhere kids are laughing, and somewhere children shout:
But there's was no joy in Krudville,Mighty Kaycee has struck out! :o(
