This page is to tell you a little bit about how to role-play in the
FutureShock RPG.
Lesson 1: Character
The most thing you will be doing is being in your character. Once you are
in the RPG, the character that is finalized (in case it had to be
changed) is the character you will be playing with. When ever you write
anyone, write them as your character, and write them to their character.
If you need to tell them something outside of character, use this message
in front of the message:
OOC:
This stands for Out Of Character, and
that should get the point across.
Lesson 2: Let the Right People Know
You will most likely RP (roleplay) with more than one person at a
time. There will be situations where you are talking to more than one
person, or there will be people in the same room as you when you are
talking to someone (in RP Reality) that would hear. When this happens,
please send a carbon copy of the message to the right people. Make sure
everyone knows. Most likely you won't need this lesson, being we now
use mailing lists for the Power Ranger RPG, but this is just for knowing purposes.
Lesson 3: Action
A lot of times, your actions of what your character does drives the RPG
on. But sometimes, you'll have to tell people what your doing. So you'll
have to enclose your actions in an *. Here's an example:
*I raise my
left hand. I put it down. I raise my right hand.*
That shows what
your doing, and people know it, and keep it separated from what you
say. There are other symbols for other means of action, one of is communication
which is in the next lesson. Others to know, are telepathy, used by
the symbols {{telepathic message}}.
Lesson 4: Communications
In the RPG you will have to
communicate over a comm system, or your communicator. To keep this
separated from talking, or action, its enclosed in ::. Here's another
example.
::Donte to Person::
how's it going?
::Donte
out::
Lesson 5: Don't Play God
Something I really don't like, and neither do others, is "playing
God." Its an RPG term meaning that if 500 missles hit you point
blank, you don't magically dust off, and act like nothing happened. Be
realistic as act like you would if you were really in the show you are
RPGing in. That's basically the don't in this RPG.
Lesson 6: Be Creative
A lot of times, being creative will get you out of situations. Be
creative, but reasonable, and you will go far in both RPGs.
Conclusion:
Well, basically that's it! Hope I've been informative, if not
boring! If you have any questions that isn't covered in this, please feel
free to email me. Thanks!
