The last will and testament of Sarah Dennis of the town of Portsmouth on Rhode Island in the colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in New Englad in America widow is as followeth:
To all people whom these presents may concern: Knowing yee that I the said Sarah Dennis through the mercy of god being perfect in mind and of sound memory praised be his holy name but being very ill and weak in body for the preventing of trouble amongst my children and relations do make this my last will and testament as followeth:
Imprimis: My mind and will is that all just debts which I owe unto any person or persons shall be truly paid and that all debts justly due unto me from any person or persons may be received by my executors hereafter named.
Item: I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son Robert Dennis one cow, ten sheep a feather bed boulster two pillows a pair of sheets a pair of blankets a coverlet and the curtains thereunto belonging:
Item: I do give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Dennis my feather bed and boulster which I lodge on with all the furniture thereunto belonging with all my bedsteads which is fast to the house and twelve shillings to buy him a bible with all which furniture two pillows with two pillow bears a boulster case a coverlet two blankets two sheets and the curtains belonging thereunto
Item: I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Lawton wife of George Lawton a new feather bed a boulster with a case two pillows and pillow bears a pair of sheets a pair of blankets a coverlet with the curtains thereunto belonging with a wool bed feather boulster with a case two pillows with pillow bears a pair of sheets with a coverlet thereunto belonging with a dripping pan and my great bible.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Fish, widow unto Thomas Fish a new bed tickin and boulster a brass kettle a warming pan a pair of sheets and a pair of pillow bears maked with the letters SH with all my dyshes napkins and tablecloth with a great brimd bason with two great new platters with my great iron pott and a little brass skillet and two of the newest plaits and an iron skillet with all my eathen ware and twelve shillings in money to buy her a bible withall and my table which stands in the old house and all my tinware I also give unto my daughter May Lawton two iron kettles a spit and fender with all my towels and cotton and linen napkins with all my pewter which is not already disposed of a piece of black and white druggets and my mind and will is that all my wearing apparel both linen and woollen with all other apparell and a piece of lincy wooley cloth with a bit of fold cloath shall be qually divided between my two said daughters Mary and Sarah and I also give unto my said son John a pair of andirons and if there should not be boulster cases sufficient to supply what I have given there is new linon sufficient to make them.
Item: I do give and bequeath unto my two grandchildren Ruth and John Lawton to each of them twelve shillings to buy each of them a bible withall and my mind (here was crossed out the words "my will"--md) is that all my sheets and pillow bears which is not already disposed on shall be equally divided between my said two daughters Mary and Sarah and my mind and will is and I do hereby leave the remaining part of my sheep with a cowe in the hands of my executors to be at their disposal to buy the above said bibles and also I do leave so much of my said estate in the hands of my executores as will pay my funeral charges and other necessary expenses concerning the same and my mind and will is that all the rest of my estate whatsoever and wheresoever it is to be found which is not already disposed on (after funeral charges is paid or considered to be paid) shall be equally divided amongst all my children to every child an equal part and my mind and will is that my loving son Robert Dennis and my son in law George Lawton do take care and see that this my last will and testament performed fulfilled and kept and they do ordain constitute appoint and make my whole and sole executors in equall power to see this my last will and testament in all things performed fulfilled and kept according to the true intent and meaning of the same.
In witness whereof I the said Sarah Dennis have hereunto set my hand and seal in six and twentieth day of the seventh month called September in the year of the Lord one thousand seven hundred and twelve 1712

George Thomas and John Anthony witnesses being engaged according to law testifieth and saith that they saw the abovesaid testator Sarah Dennis sign and seal the above written and heard her declare it to be her last will and testament and that then she was of perfect and sound memory according to the best of their understanding and that then Martha Thomas was a witness also taken before us the 13th of the 8th month 1712.
