Take your feather of choice and hold it as shown.
Give a sharp tug on the feather to pull it loose along with a portion of the quill along with it.
Continue stripping the feather off the end of the quill.
Hint: I attach a spring clamp to the bottom of the feather to help stabilize it while I am stripping the feather. You can also have a friend hold it for you. You will waste a lot less feathers by doing this. You can now trim the feather to the desired length with scissors and cut to shape after applying to the arrow or use a chopper to cut to the desired shape…I do both.
