Personality: It seems you don't know what he's thinking but he is really
a gentle, peace loving person. Being the head of the country, he was
raised among adults so it's probably only natural that he acts older than
his age. A lonely person who was trained so that when he takes the throne
as Emperor he becomes cool and majestic.That's why. Doesn't think he was
loved by his father, the previous Emperor, or his mother. Because he's
strongly captivated by Miaka's cheerfulness, he spontaneously returns to
a boy when in front of her. His biggest fault or strong point would be
his narcissism. Because of how he was raised he can also be ignorant of
the world.

Background
Hotohori is the beautiful emperor of Konan. In fact he's so beautiful
that Miaka mistakes him for a woman at first. (Boy, was that funny!) He
is pretty vain, but he is also a very lonely guy when we first meet him.
He became Emperor at age 14, and he has led a sheltered, isolated life.
Of course, when Miaka drops out of the sky, everything changes! He makes
friends sorta with his fellow shichiseishi and actually gets to leave the
palace with them every now and then! Of course, his "love" for the Suzaku
no Miko was around before he met here, so he's got a few problems in that
department.


Why He is Vital to the Show
He makes two nice little love triangles possible! He comes in handy with
his snazzy sword (who doesn't?), a good way to keep his Miko from getting
dead. And he provides the other seishi with a nice palace to live in, and
nice clothes to wear, and nice food to eat....


My Comments
Ho-ri-sama's pretty kool. He's dang sexy, for one thing. He can be really
gentle, but that "hurt the people I care about and I'll kick the ever
loving sh*t out of you" is always a plus. And he has a sword...have I
mentioned that I like swords? I really, REALLy like swords. ^_~
