Zeke's 93' Press Kit

Zeke's 93' Press Kit

I recieved this from the wonderful Bennett from Wrecking Ball Records. I hope to get it scanned sometime but im without a scanner so ill just type out the words for now. Its sort of fuzzy in spots so some of the words might be wrong.

ZEKE, A highly polished Chevy 350 small block bored out to 355 Edelbrock intake mainfold holding a Holly 4-barrel carb, Edelbrock Performance Serise valve covers and Offenhauser breathers creating a High Boy Roadster. After completion of their high octane demo, Benton Country, Zeke has gone on to clock wins with unmatched high speeds playing with bands like The Dickies, DOA, MDC, Best Kissers in the World, SnFU, Supersuckers, Dirt Clod Fight, F-holes and many other tome fuel conteders. Zeke has just completed their fisrt 7 inch singl, West Seattle Acid Party. Clocking in at 4.2 seconds. A great run for a first effort. The high-speed burn out of Zeke is a sound only matched by the roar of an engine at the starting line. Screaming, reving, ready to go. Red, red, red, green. Zeke clocks another win. On the b-side a beer drinkers anthem, Schmidt Value Pak. 'Cause when the racings onver there's only one thing I need... Cold beer time again. Zeke is sure to be one of your favorite drag-racin', beer drinkin', hllbilly-stomp-type punk rock bands. So throw you car in gear and gfive me a run for my money. Zeke is Blind Marky Felchtone on guitar and vocals, Dizzy on guitar and vocals, Donny Hales on drums, and Mark Pierce on bass.

From, Punk Rock Extravaganza: Smutch (March 93')

Heading up to the Central Clubhouse in Millton WA on Feburary 4th I was wondering if I would be able to do an interview with Zeke. Having had the pleasure of seeing these punk heads perform several times I stocked myself for the apperance at least I thought I had.
Zeke opened up for the Lemons from Federal Way and Waner Bros recording artists Bomb. Zeke aggreed to do the interview after the show. The guys burst into the room in much the sawm way as they play, fast and hard! To get things started they were asked the typical Seattle Scene question.
Being bombarded from all sides I deemed that Zeke is definatly NOT part of the so called "grunge" scene that is all overtown. Seattle is really "the punk capitol of the world," according to Dizzy. He sho felt it was getting so much attention because all the good looking girls sided with "Dork Stars" Donny said. Zeke was not Nirvana and had no desire to be.
Next question, tell us about your "Benton County" demo tape? This was headed by Mark F. who is formerly of Benton Country in NW Arkeansas. There are these brothers Bill and zeke [?] who Mark F. described as hippy hillbillies who live in a small house on cinder blocks, have long greasy heair and make their living manufacturing ball stub acid. The [?] Brothers Mark F. stated that they "have a huge [?] Punk rock vinyl collection"
Dizzy and Mark Z interjected "maybe we shouldnt mention the ball stub acid" That as shot down by Mark F wiht, "but thats the truth and that's how they make their living" Things were a lot [?] durring this exchange and Mark Z and Dizzy and Mark F hate each other. None of them denied it. Soon they all three of them were telling me that Benton Co. [?] has a speedway and the photo they useon the their T-Shirts was a photo taken there by freelance photographer Steve Muller whose work they admire.
Again I was able to get a word in I asked "so Zeke is named after Zeke [?]?" Yes Dizzy adds it is allso Neil Youngs son's Name.
Curious about htier songs I asked about teh lyrical content. Dizzy in a rapid exchange tried to turn this interview around and questioned me What do you think Kristine? After you listen to Zeke what song do you hum for the rest of the day Kristine? I know you cant listen to Zeke and not have a song going throught your head all day Galazy 500, Spoonful of Soul, Chevea. What Kristine? To stop the intense barage from Dizzy, Galaxy 500 the choice.
The guys started bantering back and forth about Galaxy 500 of spanking girls in the backseat and other found memories. Once again Mark F got down to the real story behind the song. Seems he has this car when he was in L.A. and one day after a [it just ends]
light with is fut and trying to drown his sorrows, he drove this infamous Galaxy thought the gates of the Coconut Teaszer Club This incident just happen to occur durint Coconut Teaszer hot dog barbecue. As Mark F and the Galaxy rolled to a stop, he asked the guy for a hot dog, which he got with mustard and jalapenous Mark's favorite. Everyone then speculated about the mustard and jalapenous where they the only condments the teaszer had that day or was it something more? Guess we will never knoew. To Mark F. it really didn't matter, he got what he watned seeming an afterhtought Mark said he didnt have hes contacts in that day so maybe that could have contributed to this accident. With a happy ending hee ended the Galaxy 500 story with he had had lots of interesting sexual experiance in this car so fond memories will last a line time for this long gone car.

Central Clubhouse
Feb. 4th, 1993
The Clubhouse is situated deep in Milton, if ou should go, bring someone your not trying to impress. Zeke opened the festivities with their slant on the "new" music. Tight, lean and energetic arrangements that showed the honesty that will always follow a great band. A fine example of the northwest scene, Zeke freatues exceptionally articulate drumming and a no nonsenese attitude that seems to be a very rare comodity in these parts.
