well, i arrived at two because i'm just paranoid like that. and i don't remember when the band took the stage, because it seemed like they showed up a little late. the crowd was huge, unbelievable. and um, there was no moshing, although i did pogo throughout the whole show and danced during the encore. i was lucky enough to be in the very front and i took a lot of pictures and yeah. but i'm sure you don't want to hear about me.

it was a really long set for an in-store. i'd say it was the length of a real set. s-k were really cool and signed for people after the show from both the stage and an official line. in between songs, they talked about how corin got a sunburn on her back after they swam yesterday, they praised the go-betweens, and about getting back from japan. early in the show, people were shouting out all sorts of songs for them to play and then finally carrie said to write them down and to pass them to the front. i think the suggestions were one more hour, dance song '97("that's so two years ago" -carrie), you ain't it and some other stuff. i wrote down one song for you and handed it to corin and um. they played it for me. with corin saying something like "this is one song for you. and its for kevin." and i was also the idiot who yelled "we all love you!". hee. they were wonderful, i thought. the crowd wasn't too enthusiastic. but yeah. um. s-k were soooper nice and i got stuff signed and got pictures, along with everyone who wanted autographs or pictures. and um. janet told me i had cute hair. *smirk.

I just got back from seeing Sleater-Kinney at an in-store performance at Amoeba Music in Haight-Ashbury, SF. It was awesome. I was in the front having gotten there an hour earlier (no rowdiness by the way for those wondering so no complaints here). They played a great set (not just because all of their songs are excellent but some were also my personal fav's) with two brand new never before heard songs which I liked very much, especially the second new song. It was very exciting seeing them in such a casual setting, and watching them warm-up etc. They came across as real people partially because the lighting was normal and they weren't that far away from me. I've never had that kind of connection with an artist before. I was grinning during their entire encore just because watching Carrie smile so big - it was absolutely contagious! I never noticed before, because usually I am in the back somewhere, but there is such a wonderful connection between Carrie and Janet - they kept looking at each other and talking in between songs. Corin seemed to be in her own world, not with the other two in the same way, but she was amazing of course Carrie had a hickey, which someone asked about, and she feigned ignorance first and then said it was a sunburn gone wrong =) Janet on the drums was very very cool to see.. barely a yard away from where I was! And Corin of course.. wow Im still debating whether I should shell out 30 bux for tomorrow's nonfestival in Berkeley, which is actually very close to where I live. It doesn't start until 4pm so I have plenty of time. Blah blah blah

I had been waiting to go to this concert for a month. I almost didn't go because i was going to the s-k concert at berkley the next day, but i convinced my dad to take me. I live 2 hours from San Fran so i left early cause i didn't want to get caught in traffic and be late. Anyways i went with my friend jamie and we got to the store an hour early. I expected there to be a line in front or something, but there wasn't so i was happy. Jamie and i walked down to the cd section to do some cd shopping before the show. I looked over at the stage area and i saw carrie. i hit the floor. I got all excited and my friend said i should go talk to her since she was just walking around but i was too nervous so we planted ourselves in front of the stage to watch the band set up. The cool thing about this concert was that the stage was really low so you were really close to the band. This was my first time seeing s-k live and they totally blew me away. The crowd was not really into it, but jamie and i were going crazy. I think it was because there were cd racks set up in front of the stage so it was hard to dance around. Anyways, they totally rocked and I loved Carrie's rock star moves. She is so awesome. After their set jamie and i rushed toward the stage with our cd covers hoping for an autograph. Janet came out and I asked her to sign my cd and she did and then Carrie came out and she also signed it. I also got Corin's autograph and got to talk with her for a little bit. I am so in love with them, how could i not be? Overall the concert rocked ( wish i had a setlist but i didn't keep track of all the songs) and i hope they come back to the bay area soon! Also i forgot to mention that they were taking requests from the audience and Jamie and I started screaming Good Things and they played it. I was very happy!! :-)
