yeah. okay. sleater-kinney two days in a row. um. i don't really want to talk about the other bands besides that scarnella were unbearable for me. it's not a cheap shot or anything, just not my type of thing at all. and bob pollard of gbv was interesting/funny. yeah. anyway, to s-k. awesome awesome awesome. the crowd was much more energetic than at amoeba. and um. i did my best by jumping up and down like *crazy* and singing reeeeely loudly. before they even set up their equipment, i waved to carrie during gbv's set and she mouthed "hey" back. but er, while they were setting up/almost ready to play, i handed carrie this sleater-kinney logo thing i drew during scarnella's set, which had a note included. before i gave it to carrie, i held it up like a banner & janet saw it and smiled at me. um. i think they recognized me from the instore. so um. i think less than halfway through the set, the security guy hands me a backstage pass, courtesy of someone on stage. i saw the thing and pointed to me, to confirm it was for me, and not someone else. so i went backstage and watched the show from backstage, dancing like crazy. i talked to will of imperial teen, who was such a sweetheart. and i talked to two of the guys from pansy division. and it turns out it was one of them who gave me the backstage pass, because he said i was having way too much fun and needed to go up there. so yeah. i then caught corin walking by and handed her the thing i originally gave to carrie, except carrie had dropped it. corin thanked me and said it was nice and said the little drawings were cute(they were katie's little stick figures). err. i then talked to roddy of imperial teen. and then shivered in the cold just waiting for janet or carrie to walk by. until one of the pansy division guys told me that my pass was all access and i could go to where the rooms were and stuff. i told him i was nervous and he asked if i had to pee because "the bathrooms are really far away". so i went downstairs and um. passed by thurston moore & kim gordon and passed by janet too. i stopped at the sleater-kinney room and saw carrie & a friend sitting down and i asked if i was um. intruding on anything or something like that. and carrie told me it was her down time. so i um. felt really stoopid. and said i'd see her later. i fergot to apoligize. toonervous. i went back upstairs & watched sonic youth. i told janet that she was a totally awesome drummer. and um. danced like crazy. while standing next to janet. and i so wanted to ask janet to dance with me, but i was stooopid and didn't. i ended up asking carrie if she wanted to dance during the encore and i think it went something like this:

This Ain't No Picnic was great. My friend and I got there kind of
late because for some reason we thought it would be an all day and all
night thing. Unfortunately it wasn't, because it was so hot. I had to
watch Guied by Voices from a far distance in the shade. But I could still
hear their music loud and clear, and they were great. This made the
sets too short. (Especially Sleater-Kinney's...hehehe). This was the
first time I've ever seen Sleater-Kinney and I guess I wanted to here
every song they've even written. But they are absolutely beautiful. I
had debated all day to buy a disposable camera and try and sneak it in.
And I didn't and of course the girl didn't even look in my purse. I got
so close to the stage, I could see facial expressions and all. And there
was so much room to dance, and dance I did. They played a lot of stuff
from Hot Rock, and a couple of new songs too. They dedicated I Wanna be
your Joey Ramone to Sonic Youth. Yeah!
So afterwards, my friend and I went over to where they had this
man-made lake with a bridge that crossed over it, to try and stay cool.
ICU was playing at the stage right next to it. I've heard some of the
stuff before and thought it was good, but the stuff they were playing that
day was brilliant. So, my friend and I promptly went over to where they
were selling CD's and we both bought one.
Then when Sonic Youth was getting on stage, my friend and I ran
over there. I had to see my stupid ex-boyfriend and his ugly new
girlfriend. And then I found out that all of Sonic Youth's stuff was
stolen. They just didn't sound the same. After 15 years of collecting
and modifying their instruments, some asshole had to come along a take itall.
All together it was a great concert.

Jamie and I got to the Greek Theatre an hour and a half before the
concert started and i was surprised that they was not a lot of people there
yet. We were both tired cause we went to the s-k show the night before and
stayed up late. Anyways we sat in the front of the stage cause i wanted a to
be close for sleater-kinney. Bratmobile was first and they totally rocked.
I saw s-k on the side of the stage and Corin was video recording their set.
The bands that came next were ok, but we were getting tired of standing
after awhile. I didn't even pay attention to the bands before s-k, cause i
was too busy watching s-k stand on the side of the stage and talking with
other bands. I watched Corin eat an apple(what can i say? i am obsessed).
Anyways it was dusk when s-k took the stage. The crowd was more energenic at
this show. Jamie and i were jumping around and signing the words to the
songs ( along with everyone else) at the top of our lungs which was very
fun. I was more closer to Corin than last night because her mic was right in
front of me . The stage seemed really high though. This show didn't seem as
personal as the night before. I think it was because there was more people
and security guards were everywhere. S-k didn't seem relaxed either. I was
almost like they were hurrying up so that Sonic Youth could take the stage.
Carrie did her famous rock star moves though and she was totally rocking
out. Sonic youth was awesome, but the reason i went was to see
sleater-kinney so i was sad that their set was over. I wanted them to sign
my collage i made of them, but the security guards wouldn't let me back
stage. I also wanted to meet them again, but i am still thrilled to have
seen them live again. Overall the concert rocked, but it was not as personal
as the one on thurs. night (didn't i already say that sorry). I wish i had a
setlist, but once again i didn't keep track of the songs. I think i was too
in awe from seeing sleater-kinney live. oh well.
