im very sure that someone will review the detroit show last night.. they werent so good atfiirst but i thought after their first three songs they played awesome and seemed pretty into it, but last night was possible my most glorious moment.. sk was in the middle of playing turn it on in there encore and corins guitar strap broke and they finished the song w/o corins guitar and they were gonna stop playing but then carrie was like 'no, we have to figure something out.. corin you just sit down and play guitar and well get someone else to sing .. does anyone know the words to little mouth?' and noone yelled anything and then shes asked again and i realized just what she was asking and i yelled 'i know the words to little mouth' and corin was like ok and motioned for me to come on stage.... OMG i was freaking out.. i got on stage and handed janet a letter i had written her which was packaged with my zine and she smiled at me and i smiled back.. carrie was tuning her guitar and i bent down to her and go 'yr gonna need to help me out cos im gonna make a fool out of myself' and she gave me this oh so cool nod.. i then stu mbled over to corins mic and a girl in the audience goes 'i wanna sing too' and carrie motioned her up' this was sort of a releif cos i just know all sleater kinney songs and i dont know all of them by name and i knew i knew little mouth but i didnt know which one it was still and i was embarased to ask them and i this girl helped to take some of the stress off of me and she was sort of funny.. carrie asks 'whats yr names?' and i was like steve and the girl said kate and carrie says 'ok .. now were gonna play little mouth with steve and kate.' and iwas so freaked out.. they started to play and i missed the first two damn yous but then i totally recognized it and i dont know im not sure if i could be heard .. i couldnt hear myself but i dont know i couldnt hear any one singing.. it was such a blur.. and then we finished and corin and janet and carrie bowed and carrie says something like 'now steve and kate are going to play for you' or something like that.. and everyone cheared .. possibly for me./. i staggered around on the stage for about a minute and then i saw security motion for me to get down.. and then i was trying to find my friend kate (the kate who i came with not the kate that i sang with) and everyone was shaking my hand and i felt like such a rocks star! it was truly my greatest moment.. and if anyone has any pictures of me or knows where to get them or i saw someone videotaping.. ohh yes just please if you have any it would rock so much if i could get some..xox the luckiest boy in the world

Well, my first Sleater-Kinney concert was awesome! As any good show should, it made me love the band more. (Dontcha hate it when you go to a show and never wanna hear the band again afterwards cause they were lame or grumpy or something?) The venue was a combo bar/club/bowling alley/restaurant... kinda surreal. The show actually took place on the second floor lounge above said bowling alley, and all the kids jumping around made the floor bounce a lot. That was cool, though I thought some speakers were going to topple at a couple of points. Carrie and Corin and Janet are all so tiny! I don't know what i was expecting, but I guess cause they sound so big I was expecting them to be really tall and imposing or something. And let me just state for the record that, although I considered myself past the stage of life where I fall in love with performers, I LOVE CARRIE BROWNSTEIN!! She is not only talented and adorable and has great presence, but she is also absolute sex on wheels the way she snarls into the microphone and dances around doing sexy rock star poses!!! I was completely captivated throughout the show. The crowd was pretty friendly, not so big that people couldn't see, and it wasn't a big fashion show or a mob scene, as I had expected after reports from the New York and Philly shows. My only complaints would stem from the sound quality. I had trouble hearing the lyrics, but that may have been due to where I was standing and not poor mixing on the part of the sound person. Oh well, only the one minor glitch... Their set was pretty good, concentrating mainly on songs from The Hot Rock, but they also played several songs from Call the Doctor and a few others from theÊ other two albums, including an oddly upbeat version 'How to Play Dead' from the first album, which was kind of a surprise. Hearing stuff from THR live helped change my opinion of this latest album. I didn't like it at first due to the fact that the studio versions of the songs didn't seem as rockin' as songs on previous albums, but live they stood up well next to the older stuff, so I am learning to love THR (almost) as much as CTD and DMO. Unfortunately, the set ended kinda prematurely on the first encore when the strap holder thingie on Corin's cool-ass sparkley guitar broke and she had to sit down in order to play, but here's the cool part, the highlight of the show, probably the highlight of at least two kids' lives... they asked for an audience member to sing the words to 'Little Mouth' for them!!! And two kids volunteered! A boy named Steve (Inefibleme@aol.com) and my new cyber-bud Kayte (hamsterbaby@hotmail.com), both from the S-K listserv, got to sing WITH S-K!!!! Everybody went crazy! It was so awesome! We all got to live for a few moments vicariously through these two kids singing with our idols. I think it was so exciting to everybody because any of us could've been up there singing, and in a way we all were. Hats off to Kayte and Steve!
