October 4, 1999 - Seattle, WA @ The Breakroom
By: Josh Barnes

I had such a great time at the Seattle show. I was almost ready to make the drive to Portland. At first I was a little disapointed in the way the crowd kind of refused to jive and dance to the music. I bugged out a bit, and felt like I was a bit of a nuisance. I just wish everybody would let loose and dance. It feels good, and I think it helps the band get into it more. But then I was proud of us when everybody went so nutz clapping and screaming after songs. So it was OK. I loved hearing the new songs. I have to say that a few of them didn't strike me like the hand of God stirring my boogie juices, but I'm not worried. I'm the hugest fan, but I've always maintained that the taste of Sleater-Kinney can be pretty damned acquired. In that you have to have a few concentrated listens, sometimes, before you really can understand what's going on. All the same, there were also some incredible harsh nasty power melodies that really turned me the fuck on. And no, I don't mean sexually. I was really stoked to hear "one more hour". It's so powerful, really one of my faves. And "turn it on" was awesome, too. Towards the end, though, it seemed like Corrin was getting tired or something. She just seemed a little worn out or something. But then.."Little Babies"!! I'm jealous to hear that they played "Good things" in Porland. I could watch this band night in and night out. I sure hope they play again sometime soon. I just can't get enough.
