My class tied knots in a string-10 at a time and bundled
them into hundreds
and then into thousands. A short piece - 24 inches- can be tied into 10
knots by primary students and then bundled into groups of 100, etc. When
finished ( 2000), it may be unbundled and laid out to form a long string.
