Catch 22 “Washed Up!”
Victory Records
The first Catch 22 CD was one of the most exciting releases at the time. The great skapunk and intelligent songwriting not only improved Victory’s image, but the face of American skapunk, which was otherwise bland and mindless. At best, you can say that this 4-song EP is grossly unnecessary and disappointing. One song is a cover of “American Pie,” another is a half-minute mock parody of mindless hardcore. That leaves 2 decent songs, and bonus shit that you have to wait through 20 minutes of silence to hear. This is by far the most annoying trend in punk right now, and it should end immediately. Nobody likes waiting to hear crap. Bands, labels… please stop doing this. Anyway, no love lost, I’m still eagerly awaiting the new Catch 22. And if you decide to get this CD, be forewarned: you might overlook it, mistaking it for one of those AOL free trial CDs. This looks just like em. (Adam Liebling)
