Ska Nj Ska Review

Catch-22...Washed Up!
Finnaly a new catch-22 cd. I couldn't wait for this to come out. For those of you who haven't gotten this cd there are only 4 songs on it with some live recordings towards the end. As many know c22 went through alot of band memeber changes and switches. You all remember Keasbey Nights, and you all will remember this. The first song is called Leaving which is my personal favorite of this Ep. The lyrics for this song are just amazing. The mixing and vocals are cordinated better then some cds i have heard. This song was the quote of the week for 10/17. The songs speaks of friendship and fixture. Basically the ups and downs of life. The second song is just as good as the first called Hard To Impress. The horn line for this song is very nice. The chorus brings in the more hardcore c22 people refer to them as but i like it. The lyrics for this song was well written by mr kevin gunther himself (the guy on the front of this very page for those of you who didnt know). As i listen to the cd and write this, American Pie comes on. Personally i don't like this song on cd. On the Pinball compilation i didnt like it very much and on this cd i don't either. When they play it live its fun and entertaining but here no, even kevin agrees. Soon following American Pie is The Death Of My Blood Is In Your Indulgence. This is the c22 hardcore fun song. The very first time i heard this i laughed. It's a funny song, just wish i knew what he was saying. After 16 minutes of skimming blowing in the wind comes on...after that on&on&on comes on which i like. Its the "new" version but its still good as anything. Following on&on&on is christina which i don't know if i like. I heard it at the cove before the cd came out and i liked it. Then i heard it at the cd show and it was soso and on the cd i don't know. The beginning is pretty cool and the end. I don't know about that whole middle. 9mm, the next song is perfectly done. The clean guitar is to loud but its still a good song. Overall i think its a pretty damn good deal for $6. Many of you people out there might be reading this and saying "oh this kid is a loser becuase he likes the new c22" all i have to say is your ignorant. Alittle while back right after this cd was released i recieved an email from someone ill keep unrevealed. But this email stated how the new c22 cd is the worst display of an nj band yada yada etc. I think its ok to have opinions but as kevin says on the cd "It doesn't matter if we suck as long as we have fun at what we are doing" think about it.
