Alone in a Crowd finds Catch 22 with a new vocalist. Jeff Davidson was featured on the 1999 ep, Washed Up, in which the vocalist was seen as a new direction for the band. With his first full length with the band, Davidson, is able to maintain the high quality of upbeat ska-core that the band is known for. Catch 22 was one of (if not THE) band to bring ska to the hardcore community with their lively energy and powerful playing. Their three piece horn section is one of the genres most powerful and it seems as though Jeff has also entered the songwriter ring with Sax / Vocalist Ryan Eldred quite nicely. The band choose to do the standard one cover per album thing and pick the Beach Boys "Sloop John B". For fans of Hatebreed, you will be happy to hear Jamey's vocals on "Hard To Impress". This album will more than satisfy their throngs of fans and will recruit a whole new legion. If they hit your area, be sure and go see their live show. (Victory 2000)
