The songs on this album are: point the blame, sounds good, but I don’t know, it takes some time, what goes around comes around, arm to arm, guilty pleasures, bloomfield ave, hard to impress, san francisco payphone, neverending story, thinking about things (I think too much), and alone in the crowd. The ska boys are from New Jersey, and they have been in the business for a long time. I am not a ska fan so the horns were not something I like to listen to in general. I do however think the guitar is amazing (prolly cause im a guitarist?) Anyways there is more to a song than the instruments, so let’s look at my favorite song and why, and the lyrics of other equally great songs.
WAIT! I don’t like ska, then why am I happy and dancing around my room while this CD is playing? No one will ever know. The song “It takes some time” amazed me, I heard orchestration in the background towards the end of the song also, in the song bloomfield ave the orchestration happens. That was something I didn’t expect. Also acoustic guitar intro on “What goes around comes around”. I should really give ska a chance, there is more to it that a repeated beat and guys in suits. My favorite song is “guilty pleasures” it’s exactly how I feel right now in my life. It seems as if this song was written for me cause it’s my life. Let’s look at the lyrics, “Running around in circles, just to find that peace of mind… I’ve lost touch, too much sympathy… fragments of each sentence representing anything I think. DAMN this sounds like I how I feel. I am too caught up with my worries and depression that I am missing out on the good things, and when I don’t miss them I don’t realize that they are the good things.
