Show Review: Ten Foot Pole, Digger, Catch22 @The Cradle

I set out from Statesville to Carrboro last night to go expierence The combined tour power of Catch 22's ska, Digger's PA pop punk, and Ten Foot Pole's raw energy.THe show opened with Catch 22 who played a awesome set in which they poked fun of themselves by saying they are "required" to do a hardcore song since they are on victory records. They played an extremely tight set, yet maintained to keep the crowd pleased and moving. Digger were up next, on tour for their latest album Promise of a Uncertain Future. They played both new songs and songs from their first release Powerbait. The kids staged dived as Digger would rock out. High points of Digger's set included when new guitarist, Tom was being made fun of by a member of the crowd and he replied "Pop punk is harder then your penis buddy!". Another of the comments made by Tom was when a show -go'er shouted out "WESTON!", tom replied with "They changed their name to Snyder". Not to many people caught the punchline of the joke, a blantant reference to Smiley Jim Snyder who has taken over the majority of the singing from original singer Dave Weston, Chris Benner guitarist for Digger also played for Weston at one point. Digger then blasted into the last of their songs by rocking the crowd with "Geek Love" in which a a crowd member sang along the entire song fearlessly on stage. Ten Foot Pole was up last and sadly rather dissapointed me but the younger kids who enjoy the whole "Epi-fat" sound ate it right up.
