Catch 22 released "Washed Up and through the Ringer" today, an album that contains a random mix of stuff, plus two new songs. I 'll get it in the discography and lyrics sections when I get a chance, after I move the site.

Old News
10-27-01 Catch 22 will be coming out with a new CD. It will include the 'Washed Up' 7", the 3 song 'Alone In A Crowd' giveaway, new live recordings, and two new songs (without Jeff).
Catch 22 have not found a new singer yet, however.
,br> 8-5-01 Although Catch 22 haven't made an announcement regarding their new singer, they WILL be on Warped Tour. Visit their official site for information.

4-12-01 Well, it seems that all the rumors are true. No, Catch 22 is NOT breaking up, but unfortunately, Jeff is deciding to leave the band. It's certainly pretty heart-breaking news, and regular visitors to this site probably know that I tend to drool over Jeff, and he's always been a super nice guy to me when I've gone to see Catch 22.
Fortunately for us Catch 22 fans, the band is going to replace Jeff and continue playing awesome music. I wish them all the luck in the world with their new endeavor, and hope that they can find someone who can carry on the fine tradition of excellence that Tomas and Jeff have established. The official statement from their official site is below:

Hello Everyone,
I usually love posting news on the website, but today I have some bad news for everyone. After the European tour in May we will again be looking to replace a valuable member of the band. Jeff has decided to move on with his personal life and is quitting. When we found out this news we were obviously devastated and werent really sure what to do.
After talking with a ton supportive friends, family, and fans of the band we have decided to move on and try to find someone who wants to play in Catch 22 as much as the six remaining members do. We are really sorry that we have to cancel our US tour w/ RX Bandits. We were really looking forward to playing those shows, but now we need the time to find a new singer.
Having gone through this once before we know how hard it is going to be, but we love playing in this band more than anything else in the world so we feel it's worth it. If you are interested in audtioning, know someone who you think would be interested in joining, or you just want to comment, please email me at ctwentytwo@home.com. This has been a pretty sad time for all of us in the band, so positive comments would be appreciated. The only requirements are that you have to be out of High School as of June, you must have a kick ass voice and a ton of energy, you have to be able to tour and you must live in or near New Jersey. So again we are really sorry but we are going to try to keep going stronger than ever.

Kevin, Pat, Chris, Pat, Ryan, and Ian.

Please do a favor for a fellow Catch 22 fan! Mike needs the guitar tab "Alone in a Crowd" off of AIAC. His band is playing it at graduation, so if you can help him out, please email him: marsbondfire@hotmail.com.

DCN.com is hosting a live webcast of Catch 22 at Lupo's on November 22 at p.m. Vist the website for more details.

Catch 22 is Napster's featured artist! How friggin cool is that? Here's what it said about them:
When Ska, Punk, and Swing collide, the result is undoubtedly Catch 22. Hard-hitting punk rhythm teams up with jump-style swing and ragtime-influenced dance music to produce a unique sound. Their effortless genre bending covers all the bases. Catch 22 is a band set on proving that diversity can defiantly pack a punch.

10-15-00
This is from the Punkbands.com Newsletter #45. It's nothing really new, but I just thought it was cool that they mentioned Catch:
*CATCH 22 have plans to release a limited edition EP to accompany their forthcoming release, "Alone In a Crowd". The EP will be limited to less than 5000 copies, and will be available free with purchase only at retailers that are part of the Transworld Music chain, a long time supporter of Victory Records and Catch 22.

10-10-00
- "Alone in a Crowd" comes out today!! Whooo! Does it rock, or does it rock?
- The limited edition EP (see the old news below for details) was shipped late. Keep checking the message board for a post from Victory Records on how to get it if you purchased "Alone in a Crowd" from a participating record store.
- The video shoot is rescheduled for October 24, probably around 4 p.m., but there's no definite location yet.
- Catch 22 got a new website design! It looks great, so check it out.

- From Victoryrecords.com: Just spoke to Kevin Gunther from Catch 22. The video shoot, originally scheduled for this weekend will be postponed. The date will be announced soon. Kevin said that they've been working on a concept with their director and have as of yet been unable to agree on something as a band. We will definitely keep you posted.

-If you have a website, check out this page for a chance to win a guitar autographed by Catch 22. I probably shouldn't have told everyone this, 'cause I'm in the contest, too and I could just keep it a secret and eliminate the competition, BUT... I'm much nicer than that. So go check it out.

9-27-00 -Jeff recently posted this on the message board. I figured it might be of interest to y'all:
Hey-

this is Jeff. This is a post in regards to my other band(The Routine...formerly the derringers)...we're looking to book some shows. If anyone has any shows that they need a band for please let me know...We're basically a reggae band...we have some songs up on napster(i believe)...if not they should be up any day now. Due to the fact that CATCH 22 is my priority band and will be pretty busy within the next few months. The dates would have to fall between catch 22 shows...or maybe on a catch 22 show as the local opener. Doesn't matter. We just want to play and have some fun. Any questions can be sent to irie22irie@aol.com.

thanks for your time...and NO i'm not LEAVING CATCH 22...this is a side project with my best friends, allowing me to play some reggae and keep up with my chops on the drums.

Later
JEFF

The songs on napster are:
BUD DUB(8 minutes of improv. dub reggae)
At the staircase
Every other day
Sunday, August 6
thanks again

-If you pre-order "Alone in a Crowd" from Interpunk.com, you can get a free poster AND have the CD shipped to you the day it comes out. Neato.

From the Victory Records Update: CATCH 22 IS LOOKING FOR EXTRAS!
CATCH 22 are going to be shooting a video in New Jersey on the weekend of September 22-24th for a song off of their forthcoming album "Alone in A Crowd" (available October 10). This is a perfect opportunity to get on TV, see a free CATCH 22 show and hang with the band. If you are available to help the band out just email CATCH 22 with your name and phone number. Or just send your mailing address to catch22@victoryrecords.com and we'll get you a free 4 song sampler and a bunch of stickers.

-Just a little webmasters note: if there's a lack of major updates around here for a few days/weeks, it's because I'm designing the website for the California Times (the newspaper at a local university) so until I get it 100% up-and-running without any bugs, y'all might just have to deal with little updates for now. Sorry!

8-31-00
-The chat last night at Yahoo/Amuznet was great. The moderator even picked one of my questions, so yay! Yahoo will probably put a transcript of it up soon, and when they do, I'll be sure to have it here.

8-24-00
-amuZnet are hosting a Catch 22 chat on August 30 at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific. (I got my info from the message board, but I checked out the website, and confirmed that one, so it's not just rumor.)

8-22-00
-Here's the latest message from Kevin, for those of who you aren't subscribed to the Catch 22 email list:

Here's some news from the Punkbands.com newsletter #40:
*CATCH 22 have finished recording there new record, "Alone In A Crowd." The release date is set for October 10th. Lots of cool guests including Vinnie Nobile (trombone from the Pilfers) and Jamey Hatebreed. Expect a lot of touring in the fall.

Bunches o' news today. Catch 22's official site was just updated.

-The new CD, "Alone in a Crowd," will be out on October 10th. Yeah!

-Email catch22streetteam@hotmail.com for information on joining the street team.

-Email catch22video@hotmail.com if you wanna be in Catch 22's new video (to be filmed in the end of August), and you live in New Jersey (or can get there). I, unfortunately, will most likely not be able to attend this wonderous event, but if anyone goes and wants to send a story, feel free!

-A special get-well-soon to Kevin, who had appendicitis, but he's pretty much A-OK now.

7-25-00
Catch 22 were on MTV!
OK, before you shout "sellout," they were in the background of "Undressed." I did not hear them, as I hate that show, but someone on the message board said so. Really, the message board is the only source of news, I think.

7-13-00
There are a few corrections on the information Kevin posted about the new CD, so here they are, courtesy of Jeff's recent post:

Don't mean to shoot you down, my dear brother...however, two of those titles are incorrect...

it Sounds good is actually IT SOUNDS GOOD, BUT I DON'T KNOW and thinking about things is THINKING ABOUT THINGS(I THINK TOO MUCH)...

common mistake...i know it's a little Obsessive but i can't stand those titles without those few missing words. Hey! you probably just didn't know...

And to let everyone else know...the acoustic song is called ALONE IN A CROWD(said and done).....we're very into alternate titles for this album. Shows a little of our indecisive side.

ALSO, three of the songs:
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
BLOOMFIELD AVE
NEVER ENDING STORY

are the composites of a trilogy called BIRDSEYE GLEN...i think we'll save the storyline as a suprise...

Take care...

Jeffrey

Here's the stuff that was up the other day, but isn't old enough for old news :)
Apparently, someone from Catch 22 was sick, so they never appeared on the Ron & Fez Show. I'm not sure if they play on rescheduling, but I'll be sure to let you all know if they do.

As I'm sure you all know, Catch 22 have been working on their new album for awhile, and recently, Kevin posted the track list on the Catch 22 message board. According to Kevin, these are the songs that will be appearing on "ALONE IN A CROWD." I can't wait.
Point the Blame
It takes some time
Arm to Arm
Guilty Pleasures
Sloop John B(cover beach boys my dads guitar solo)
It sounds good(vinnie noble trombone solo)
San Francisco Pay phone
Neverending Story
Hard to Impress (new version w/ Jamey Hatebreed singing the chorus...it fucking rules!)
Bloomfield Ave.(vinnie noble trombone solo)
What goes around comes around
acoustic song(not sure what the name is yet)
Thinking about things

Kevin also said that there might be some more surprises. Like I've said before, I can not fuckin' wait for this CD to come out.

Jeff recently posted this on the Catch 22 message board:

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone that we'll be playing on the RON and FEZ radio show this friday(7/7)on 102.7(in NYC area)...the show starts at 11pm...not sure what time we go on. It IS a nationally syndicated show, so everyone outside the NYC area........"check your local listings"(or something). You may be able to find out more information at www.ronandfez.com
I'm pretty sure that this week they will be giving away free catch22 merchandise, so tune in any night this week at 11pm.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it or not, but if anyone wants to do a transcript of it or something, contact me. Here's a little tid bit from the Punkbands.com newsletter.
*CATCH 22 finished recording their second Victory full length two weeks ago, and will be mastering it shortly. The album is called "Alone in the Crowd", and will be their third release on Victory.

Sometime before that...
Ah... Angelfire is being a bitch lately and this page was somehow inexplicably erased. So, no news right now, and no more old news, ever.
I'm sorry.

I guess I can tell you this: Catch 22 are in the process of recording a new album, which should be out in the fall. Kevin said they'll be posting clips of the new stuff on their site (which you can find in Links). Their site will also have more news. And... uh... that's it.

Again, my apologies for "the missing site." Hopefully Angelfire will get its act together sometime soon.
