"Sweetie, do you want extra butter on your popcorn?" Jayden asked as she waited in the concession line at the theatre. When he didn't reply, she nudged him with her elbow. He slowly turned towards her.
"Taylor!" she whispered,"Why did you take off your sunglasses? Or do you enjoy having your hair pulled and shirt ripped by a mob of squealing girls?!"
"Can I help you??" the boy, who shockingly resembled Taylor, but whose voice was a bit deeper, questioned.
Jayden was caught off-guard and stuttered,"Um,nothing. Sorry, I thought you were my, uh, my boyfriend..."
The boy gave her an intense, quizzical look before walking off.
"Woah, now that was weird," Jayden said under her breath, trying to regain her composure as she paid for the food.
"Hey,let me help you with that," Taylor offered, returning from the washroom. He grabbed a package of Gummi Bears from her overflowing grip, leaving her to struggle with popcorn, drinks, and napkins.
She rolled her eyes,"Gee, thanks Superman.Sure you can handle that huge box of candy?"
"You underestimate my strength!" he replied in an Arnold Schwartzenegger tone, with a muscle-man pose to match.
Jayden shook her head, laughing,"My knight in shining armor! You can fight off mortal enemies with the almighty Gummi Bears!"
As the two walked down the aisle of the theatre, Jayden told Taylor about the stranger she had encountered.
"And he looked exactly like me?" Tay questioned, as the couple sat down in the back row.
Jayden nodded,"Exactly!Well, except for a small scar above his eyebrow, but still... It was sort of...eerie."
twin, but someone who looks pretty much the same,and-"
His rambling was cut off by a loud round of "Shhhhh!"s from throughout the darkening theatre. Jayden quickly scanned the crowd, to see if any friends were there, when she spotted the boy again.
"Tay,"she whispered,"There he is!"
Taylor peered into the crowd,"Where?"
"8 rows up! Near the middle!"she hissed. Taylor scanned the crowd once again.
"I can't see him! Are you sure he's the guy?"
Jayden was growing impatient,"Anyone ever tell you you seriously need glasses?"
Tay turned to her and smiled innocently,"Anyone ever tell you you have one hell of a boyfriend?"
Jayden returned the smile,"Just one person..."
"Really?" Tay asked curiously,"Who??"
"YOU, Mr.Big-Ego!" she giggled, planting a quick kiss on Taylor's lips.
"I still don't see him...Are you sure-" Tay started before being cut off.
"He's right there!! How can you not see him?!"
"You said this guy looks like me, and the last time I checked I wasn't a dark-haired woman or a balding man with an oh-so-obvious comb-over..." was Taylor's reply.
Jayden sighed and reached for the popcorn,"Nevermind."
"Well," Taylor said dejectedly,"I hope you know we missed the beginning of the movie and we'll have no clue what's going on!"
Jayden turned and gave her boyfriend a puppy-dog face,"Oh, poor baby. What ever will you do?"
"Hmmmm, I can think of one thing..." he said suggestively, snuggling in towards Jayden.
She reluctantly shrugged him off,"Tay, we can't get cozy in the theatre!"
Taylor stuck out his lower lip and pouted,"Aww, why not?"
"Well, for one thing, it's SO old...literally," Jayden replied, pointing to the dark-haired woman who was hanging all over the bald comb-over man 8 rows up.
She could barely hold in her giggle as she added,"And also because your 'twin' is staring at us..."
"So what? He's just jealous! Let him stare til his eyes fall out!" Tay said with mock toughness, cuddling up with his girlfriend once again. This time, she let him. She felt safe wrapped in his arms, and something about that boy gave her the creeps...Quit worrying! she told herselfIt's just a guy who happens to look like my boyfriend...No huge deal, and i've got Tay and his ferocious Gummie Bears to protect me... She reached for Tay's hand, as re-enforcement for her thought...
