Meanwhile, back at the Hanson household, Isaac and Zac were struggling to keep watch over their younger siblings;Jessica, age 10, Avery, age 8, Mackenzie, age 5, and Zoe, the youngest, at 1 & a half years old. (AN:I dunno the 411 on all the sibs, so if my ages are wrong, don't harass me,'k?:o)
Their father, Walker, had gone to a meeting with Def Jam Records to discuss any contract changes caused by the erradication of Mercury Records, as well as Hanson's upcoming tour. Their mother Diana, claiming she was on the brink of insanity, had gone on a solo trip to the mall in need of relaxation. So that left Ike & Zac baby-sitting...
Normally, it was not a huge task; Jessica and Avery usually stayed in their room, playing with Barbies, while Mackie continually nagged Zac to play trucks with him until it became so annoying that Ike was begging Zac to give in. That left Zoe, whom Isaac kept a close eye on as she loved to put anything and everything in her mouth, broadening her 'gourmet cuisine' range with bits of Lego, carpet lint, etc.
Today, however, they were not so fortunate. Taylor, most likely trying to score 'big brother points'had given a huge pack of red licorice to his little brother and sisters to share, telling them they could only have two pieces at a time. But the opened candy package was too hard to resist, and Jessie, Avery,& Mackie has snuck off into the basement where they finished it off, all 20 pieces of it...
So now Isaac and Zac were dealing with 3 sugar-high & hyper kids, while Zoe continually wailed, seeming as if she was mad that she had not gotten any licorice.
"I am so gonna get Taylor when he gets home,"Zac muttered under his breath,"Sugar and these kids do not mix!"
Isaac nodded in agreement,"He shoulda known after being around you for so long..."
Zac, taking a moment to realize Ike was teasing him, burst out,"Hey!You cannot compare my hyperness with these guys. I have my own individual...style."
"Yeah, uh-huh, sure Zac," Ike chuckled, handing Zoe a stuffed toy.
"Hey Zac?" Ike spoke up again as he ran to Mackenzie, who had developed a sudden interest in their mother's crystal vase collection.
Zac looked up from his oh-so-exciting fame of Twister he had just begun with Jessica and Avery,"Yeah,Ike?"
"What time are Mom & Dad 'sposed to be back?" Isaac asked, placing a vase back on the shelf of the china cabinet.
"Umm, I think around 4 or 5 o'clock," Zac said unsurely.
"Oh, and what time is it now?" Ike questioned again as he picked up the howling Zoe. Zac removed his hand from his designated red plastic dot to ehck his watch.
"It's 1:53."
Jessica and Avery befan giggling like mad,"Zaccy loses! You took your hand off!"
Zac turned to the girls, gave an "I'm soooo not impressed" look and said dryly,"Boo-hoo, I lost a game of Twister. How will I ever get over it?"
Ike gave an exhausted sigh,"Great. Only...2 or 3 more hours of this. Happy happy, joy joy."
He collapsed on the couch, holding Zoe who had finally quieted down in his lap.
"When are we supposed to get some practice in? The tour's only 6 days away!"
Zac shrugged,"I dunno...Hey wait! Tay's 'sposed to be back soon, right?"
"Yeah," Ike answered,"We could stick him with the rugrats, but in case you don't remember, he's part of the band..."
Zac gave Ike a withering look,"No shit, Sherlock-"
"ZAC!Keep your language to a G-rating around these guys!" Isaac hissed, gesturing to the kids who were now playing Hide & Seek. Somewhat unsuccessfully, Ike noted, as Mackie's red shoes wre clearly visible from beneath the living room curtains, and Avery had chosen to stand in the middle of the kitchen, hoping if she were still Jessica wouldn't notice her.
"Sorry, but I have a good idea about how we can practice," Zac said excitedly,"Just let me get something from our room."
"Zac, you're not planning on tying the kids up again, are you?" Ike said nervously,"Mom and Dad were eternally pissed off when you did that last month..."
Zac gave an exaggerated sigh,"Like I said a million times, it was a game!"
"Oh, and what game would that be?'Tie Up the Kids So You Can Watch TV'?" Ike questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Ha ha, very funny, wise-guy," Zac said, rolling his eyes,"FYIm it was 'Tie Up the Kids So I Can Play N64',and I guess you'd think this idea is stupid, too, so i'll scrap it..."
He wandered over to the fridge and grabbed a Dr.Pepper. (AN:You didn't think i'd make him grab a Sprite or somethin' and break the fan-fic tradition, now didja? lol)
"No! Zac, just tell me your idea,"Ike said, almost desperately,"We seriously need to practice."
Zac decided to play this up and shook his head,"Nah, youd don't deserve to hear the teachings of Zac-Man:Baby-Sitter Extraordinaire... Well, maybe if you apologized..."
"Fine, i'm sorry,"Isaac gave in with a groan,"And Zac, before you go upstairs, just one thing..."
"Yeah?" Zac prompted, pausing on the third step.
"About the big-ego trip...Leave that to Tay, ok? He's much more convincing," Ike quipped, chuckling along with Zac.
"Gotcha, big bro."
