[. why? . ]

In the beginning there was a talented, popular, new band Hanson (does the name ring a bell?).

Along with the band came many, many websites; Some humorous, some serious, some down-right *cough* obsessive... & some, dare I say it, devoted to fictional stories.

It didn't take long for two sides to be created: for or against Hanson fiction.

I became a member of for. Why? Ok, so maybe I don't have an earth-shattering, astonishingly clear reason, but simply put- I enjoy the stories.

So what if they are based on Hanson? Even if their main characters were Sarah B. Happy and Mike Rotch {thanks goes to Bart Simpson for the latter;)}, the integrity, hard work, & quality put into them would remain.

Hanson's personal take on fan-fic is not boldly positive or negative, but many people seem to be able to read there minds and state their thoughts, saying "It's not right to use Hanson that way!" or "You're not a true fan if you read/write Han-fic!" I, however, find those comments rather unfair and judgemental. Who has the right to state what a 'true fan' is?

I have read numerous Hanson fiction stories, & a choice few have simply made me say "WOW!" & caused my jaw to drop. { Zac Says Tay Still Wets The Bed" for example } Eventually, I felt compelled to write my own story. You betcha I'll just write my story, stick it on a page, and POOF! I'm done!... {In a dream world, that is...}

Since September 1999, when I first came up with the concept of Once Upon A Tragic Time, I have put a lot of time and effort into my web page. Now, you must understand my knowledge of HTML was zilch, and although it's not very high-tech now, it took me awhile to reach this level. *Tells her long, oh-so-boring story about her horrific run-ins with HTML tags, image files, & the 'Delete' button*

I have to say I'm rather pleased with the end result and the number of readers {OMG! 100 hits... 200 hits...! -Insert Teeny-Squeal Here- }. First & foremost, however, I enjoy writing the story. It had been a really long time (uh, well, 4 years...) since I had written a full-length story, & it's been quite a departure from the happy-happy, one-dimensional ones I wrote back in elementary school...

I'm not Charles Dickens... I'm not Emily Bronte... I'm not Shakespeare... I'm just me
