It never ceases to amaze me how the love of Scottish Country Dance Music spans the generations. It seems that, in any age group in any situation, it can be guaranteed to set the feet tapping.
We are fortunate in having many fine Scottish Bands near us,who can be booked for everything from a wedding to a church social; or you can hear them at the thriving "Box & Fiddle" nights and ceilidhs.
A typical group is made up of accordians, fiddles, piano or keyboard and drums.
John has compiled several medleys of Scottish Dance tunes - as a single dance usually contains several tunes. We will add more as time goes on. John is always asked to play at least one medley when we visit residential homes for the elderly - and the local accordian school has a waiting list of school children and teenagers wanting to learn to play this kind of music.
Nor do we rely entirely on old favourite tunes from the past - new Scots tunes are being written every day.
Scots music is alive and well so "Let's Take the Floor!!"
