The Zodiac Killer
the suspects!
(Ted Kaczynski, late 1960s)
The convicted Unabomber, Ted shares certain characteristics with the Zodiac Killer. However, I believe any similarities between the
two are simply the result of Kaczynski being heavily influenced by Zodiac. A complete comparison between the Unabomber and
(Arthur Leigh Allen, 1974)
Robert Graysmith's "Bob Starr" (ZODIAC/Berkley Books), Allen is either an excellent Zodiac suspect or an awful one, depending on
which investigator you are talking to. At one time, Allen was the main suspect of several counties investigating Zodiac crimes.
(Richard Marshall, late 1960s)
Robert Graysmith's "Don Andrews" (ZODIAC/Berkley Books), Richard Marshall is still considered a strong Zodiac suspect.
Marshall's physical appearance and background match up very well with what is known (and assumed) about Zodiac. Marshall's
last-known residence was a warehouse in San Rafael, CA.
*Marshall was born in approximately 1928.
*Raised in Texas, Marshall allegedly killed a male hitchhiker while traveling to California. This individual has never been found, and
Marshall has used the missing man's identity ever since.
*According to the statements of several acquaintances, Marshall lived in the Los Angeles area at the approximate time of the 1966
murder of potential Zodiac victim Cheri Jo Bates in Riverside, CA.
*In 1969, Marshall lived in a basement on Scott Street in San Francisco. The location was near Zodiac's only San Francisco crime
scene.
*Marshall worked as an engineer for Bay Area radio station KTIM in the early 1970s. The KTIM call letters resemble the symbols
Zodiac included in his "Exorcist" letter from January 1974.
*A big movie buff, Marshall worked as a projectionist at a silent movie theater in the Bay Area at the time Zodiac sent his "Red
Phantom" letter in July 1974. It was assumed by investigators that Zodiac's motivation for signing this letter "the Red Phantom"
was because he was influenced by a silent film.
*In 1989, Marshall worked for Tektronix. He also repaired organs in San Francisco's Castro District.
(Michael O'Hare, mid-1960s)
Gareth Penn's suspect from TIMES 17 (Foxglove Press), O'Hare makes a very unlikely candidate as the Zodiac Killer. Despite being
brilliant, and at one time having excellent skills as a marksman, O'Hare cannot be connected to any known Zodiac victim or crime
scene. The strongest evidence against O'Hare as Zodiac involves Morse code and binary mathematics, however Penn has proven
this formula to be extremely unreliable. There is simply nothing solid to implicate Michael O'Hare in the Zodiac crimes.
(Lawrence Kane, 1968)
sample writing of kane
As profiled on the November 14, 1998 episode of "America's Most Wanted," Lawrence Kane is considered a viable Zodiac suspect
by several investigators. Pam Huckaby, sister of Zodiac victim Darlene Ferrin, has identified Kane as being the stranger who was
following Darlene in the months before her murder. Additionally, potential Zodiac victim Kathleen Johns has also identified Kane as
being her abductor.
*In 1969, during the peak of Zodiac's activity, Kane was 45 years old. He stood 5'9" and weighed approximately 160 pounds. He is a
Taurus.
*As a result of massive brain damage due to a 1962 auto accident, Kane was diagnosed by a psychologist in 1965 as "losing the
ability to control self-gratification."
*Kane was arrested in Redwood City CA in August 1968. The arrest was just four months before Zodiac's first Bay Area murders of
December 20, 1968.
*Five days after Zodiac murdered Darlene Ferrin on July 4, 1969 Kane traded his automobile for another at a San Francisco Pontiac
dealership.
*Kane was living approximately three blocks from where Zodiac was known to have hailed a cab prior to the murder of Paul Stine in
San Francisco on October 11, 1969.
*After killing Stine, Zodiac apparently escaped in the direction of Letterman General Hospital. Potential Zodiac victim Donna Lass
was working the graveyard shift as a nurse at the hospital.
*In June 1970, Lass moved from San Francisco to South Lake Tahoe NV to work as a nurse at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel Casino. In
June 1970, Kane also moved to South Lake Tahoe to work in the same building.
*Lass disappeared on September 6, 1970. Co-workers of Lass said she and Kane were acquaintances.
*On March 21, 1971 an apparent Zodiac postcard was sent implying responsibility for the Lass disappearance. The card is
extremely vague, and in my opinion there is not enough handwriting to connect the postcard to Zodiac. The postcard is the only
evidence connecting Lass with Zodiac.
*The name Kane can be easily seen in Zodiac's "My name is-" cipher from April 20, 1970.
*As of early 1999, Lawrence Kane was living in Nevada.
Davis is a former Manson family member now serving time in a California prison for murder. Soon I will post more details regarding
Davis' viability as a Zodiac suspect.
Peter O.
Z.I.N.G.'s suspect, Peter definitely has the right look. However, I'm not aware of anything other than minor coincidence that points
to him being the Zodiac Killer.
they still havent found the real killer.
so if you see a guy walking around with an executioners mask run far far away!
