Arrived early to the sold out show. Janet and some other guy were in charge of selling tee shirts, albums, cd, etc (for both Sleater-Kinney, White Stripes, and Coco). I talked to her briefly. She gave me permission to record the show via mini-disc player....hummm, which I will have to get into later. Grabbed a beer (Rolling Rock of course!!!). Corin, Jack ( of White Stripes), and Meg (of White Stripes) walked up to the selling table area. I had my picture taken with Meg and Corin. Also, lit Jack's cigarette for him. Coco opened to the sold out crowd. And shit, was it ever hot in there!!!!!! Anyway, did not care for Coco (on K Records). I thought all their songs sounded exactly the same. If it were not for breaks during the songs, I would have never been able to distinguish when one had ended and another began.
Next up, White Stripes. My boyfriend recorded this show while I danced around and took pictures. Woohoo.......White Stripes really really fucking rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kind of a garage punk blues kinda thing. The band is comprised of Jack White (on guitar and vocals) and Meg White (on drums). Yes, just two people.....and brother and sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you, Jack and Meg are incredibly talented. And well, Jack also happens to be incredibly hot!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful I tell you!!!!!! Without giving it all away, White Stripes outrocked Sleater-Kinney!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sleater-Kinney took stage. I switched with my boyfriend. He took photos while I recorded the show. The mini-disc player fucked up because I had set it on stage....the magnetism....so, I no Sleater-Kinney live for me to take home......weep, weep. Anyway, Carrie appeared to be in a funk mood. Not the social all smiling rock rock grrrl she typically portrays. The band was annoyed with the cigarette smoke and Corin asked for people not to smoke while they played. I thought that was odd for given their self-selected profession, well, cigarettes and alcohol are par for the course. Also, keep in mind, the bar was so fucking hot!!!!!!!! And packed!!!!!!!!!!!! Back to the show.....their playing was not up to the grande Sleater-Kinney that we all know and love (once again....I read the body language as not wanting to be there). Though they must be given a big hand for the extended rocking version of Dig Me Out. They did not even play terribly long (not even nearly as long as the show I went to back in May at the Metro in Chicago). Like I said, I am certain they did not want to be there last night and it showed!!!!!!!!! Given that, my boyfriend and I both agreed, White Stripes blew Sleater-Kinney away last night. They sounded better!!!! And well, they wanted to be there!!!!!!! Yumm.......Jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!
