It was strange; odd, that was the only way to describe it. Sitting in the low-slung chair in the darkened bar. Silently sipping a glass of Pepsi; she never drank, she hated the taste of alcohol. Sipping Pepsi and listening to the music pumping from the various speakers around the room.

She glanced across the table only to be met by a pair of blue-green-grey eyes that seemed to look right into her soul. His eyes. They had always had the same effect on her. It felt like she'd been kicked in the stomach and had she not been sitting already her weak knees would have forced her to.

His eyes bored into her blue ones for what seemed like forever, searching. For what, she didn't know. Wordlessly he got to his feet and walked over to the bar to, she knew, order another Guinness.

Drink in hand he made his way over to the DJ. While he spoke to him, she studied him. Six feet tall; taller than she was by a full 10 inches. Wearing an outfit she loved; what he'd been wearing the day she met him: blue jeans riding low on his hips, a royal blue sweater with white collar and cuffs. She sighed, looking at his light brown curls, sometimes streaked with blonde, then looked away.

He finished talking to the DJ and looked back over at her. A knee-length black satin skirt with a delicate oriental-style pattern and a lilac angora sweater, which he knew belonged to her sister, made him swallow hard. Her light reddish-brown curls spiraled down her back, making him want to run his fingers through them. Silently he sauntered back over to where she sat.

"Leigh." His deep voice saying her name sent shivers down her spine.

"Scott?" She looked up at him and their eyes met once again.

"Dance with me?" The pleading look in his eyes told her she'd heard him correctly. Without a word she got to her feet, surprised when he took her small hand in his much larger one. Just the touch of his hand caused feelings she'd never had before. He guided her to the dance floor and gently wrapped his arms around her as a new song came over the speakers. She mentally cursed herself as she realized what the song was: "Thank You For Loving Me" by Bon Jovi.

She fought to hold back a gasp of surprise as his arms tightened around her. She closed her eyes, reveling in his warm embrace. Without realizing it she sighed softly. Eyes closed, her head resting on his chest, she didn't see the look of pleased relief that crossed his face.

He, too, closed his eyes for a moment, silently sighing as he luxuriated in the feeling of having her in his arms, breathing in the faint scent of her perfume, Candie's.

Her eyes snapped open in shock as she heard his deep bass voice begin to sing the song's lyrics softly. She raised her head and silently searched his eyes. His hand reached up and gently caressed her cheek, and she heard him say the words she'd dreamt of hearing from him for over two years.

"I love you, Leigh."

She swallowed hard trying with every ounce of energy in her body to recover from her shock. She opened her mouth to speak, but her words were lost as his lips came down on hers, soft and gentle. As he pulled away she looked up into his eyes and gave him a soft smile.

"I love you, too, Scott." She whispered.

A smile lit his face as he bent his head and kissed her softly again, both pouring into the kiss the feelings that were too hard to put into words. When the kiss finally ended they clung to each other, both afraid that it was all a dream and that the other would suddenly disappear.

She laid her head on his chest again, sighing softly, as his arms tightened around her. Their eyes drifted shut as they held each other tightly, barely moving, oblivious to their surroundings.
