This design wasn't modelled in 3D Studio MAX or Maya. Here is the first model that I am proud to show from a solid modelling program known as Solidworks. That's right, another 3D modelling program in the bag.
Solidworks is very different from Maya and 3D Studio. It's an interesting program which can do things that are really hard to do in 3D Studio but some things that would be easy to do in 3D Studio are really tricky to do in Solidworks. Solidworks is a popular program in the Industrial Design world so we are being encouraged to use it.
I even did the internal features in this injection molded design, which is made of ABS and Polycarbonate... and no, it's not a landmine. Although I did utilize the aesthetic of a James Bond weapon it's actually a stud-finder, heh heh.
