N Potter - The Cosmic God's Destruction

N Potter is short for Nigel Potter. Nigel is obviously a one-person band. Nigel plays instrumental music for the most part with an emphasis on the guitar. Nigel lists his influences as Motorhead, Hawkwind, Rush, Led Zepplin, Phil Thornton and Alan Davey/Bedouin. I am only familiar with the first four of those bands but what I hear for the most part is a strong Pink Floyd influence.

The song, "The Cosmic God's Destruction" starts off with electronic noise and some sample voices that mention something about god punishing someone. I'm guessing that is from a movie or something but I don't know for sure. The intro stuff doesn't finish until about a minute into the song.

It then goes into some Pink Floydish sounding guitar and chugging, mid-tempo background music. The feel of the song is very good but it could use some better production. The overall sound of it sounds a bit fuzzy and I think it would sound better if it were more polished. It chugs on for a bit until it slows down for some subdued guitar work and some more background vocals.

The song once again goes back into the mid-tempo, Pink Floyd sound again. The guitaring in the song is good but I catch Nigel almost making mistakes every now and then. Nigel likes to stretch his notes and doesn't do anything too flashy but the style of his playing suits the song well.

Overall, I would give this song a 7 1/2 out of 10. It could be just a little bit shorter with some better production to make the instruments not sound as fuzzy. But hearing this song makes me want to listen to more of Nigel's tracks. Nigel's main instrument is the guitar but I would like to hear him record some songs with other musicians to see how me blends in with other styles.
