Selma Lagerlöf: Introduction
.....As
of 1909, Selma Ottiliana Lovisa Lagerlöf was the first woman writer
to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
A Swedish native, Lagerlöf wrote about Nordic legends and history.
Through her writing, she conveyed the life of peasants and the landscape
of Northern Sweden in a romantic and innovative way, and in doing so,
shied away from the realistic movement. At this time, Lagerlöf is
best known for her fairy tale, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils
(Pesonen par. 1).
