Album: Evolution
Singer: Twins
Language: Cantonese
Date of release: 2003

This is a pretty apt name for Twins' latest album. A good follow-up from their previous Touch of Love, I feel Evolution makes the progress of their "growing up" almost complete.

They try a multitude of genres, styles and arrangements in here. There's the rock 'n roll broadway-ish You say you love me (track 2), the jazzy-ish Hurried vacation (track 3), the 60-70's feel of You know what I mean (track 4) and Beautiful Day (track 9), the samba-ish Crazy summer (track 6) as well as the usual pop karaoke fare.

Surprisingly, all the songs are pretty good listening fare and I found myself enjoying the album. I reckon it's a pretty good effort for two girls whom most people brush off as annoying and talentless. All right, I won't go so far as to say that they're talented. But you have to take your hat off to them for their perseverance and hard work. This album is a huge change from their previous efforts and if it's anything to go by, I hope that the change remains one for the better.

Final verdict: surprisingly good.
