Geminids 2001 Report (December 14)

Observers:
Mark Egan, Hannah Lange, Christie Ponder, Mike Mallory, Miranda Nordt, Marg Nunez, Frank Ewing

Location: 
Columbus Observatory Site of the Houston Astronomical Society

Conditions:
Clear, Cold (mid 30s), "slightly darker than normal" at the Columbus site (in between "good suburban sky" and "pristine sky") dew early on turned to frost late arrived 10:30 p.m. (13th); stayed until 4:00 (14th)

Geminid Counts (all times in a.m.)

1:00- 1:15:  22

1:15- 1:30:  24

1:30- 1:45:  24

1:45- 2:00:  19

(1:00 to 2:00 hourly total:  89)

2:00- 2:15:  33

2:15- 2:30:  33

2:30- 2:45:  20

(2:00- 2:45; 45 min. total: 86)

Notes:

1. Meteors counted only if I (Mark Egan) saw them. There were some I saw that others didn't see, and vice versa.
2. only Geminids were counted
