Changing the Speed of Your Turn Signals

Disclaimer: The instructions below are what I did to my car and can be used as a "guide" for working on yours. But, I take no responsibility for what you decide to do to your car. Be sure to read through all of the instructions first before doing anything to your vehicle.

Purpose: Changes the speed of whether the turn signals flash faster or slower.

Application: 1st Generation '95-'99 Dodge Neons

Time Required: 30 minutes

Scale of Difficulty: 1 (5 being the hardest)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove the lower dash piece below the steering column by taking out the (5) phillips head screws (4 along the bottom and 1 on the left near the fuse panel). Now you can pull it out from the (2) clips holding it in and set it aside.

2. In the fuse panel you will see (2) relays below the fuses. One is green and one is black -- take out the black one.

3. Use a flat blade screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the black plastic cover (be careful not to damage it) and unsolder the only capacitor on the circuit board. Take note of which way the positive (+) and negative (-) are facing. It should be a 3.3µF capacitor.

4. Solder in the new capacitor (make sure the "+" and "-" are in their correct spots) and reassemble.
