Jaisalmer is the situated in the north west corner of Rajasthan is around 250 Kms from the pakistan border. The region between the border and the city is complete desert. The main business here is tourism. Due to the harsh climate and scanty rainfall, the land does not support agriculture as the main occupation The city is characterised by similar one storey houses built out of sandstone, locally found and marked by the distinct presence of the massive fort right in the middle of it.
The below picture captures a complete view of the massive fort.

The above picture is taken from above the Jaisalmer fort and overlooks the entire city of Jaisalmer. The city is called The Golden city...why... notice the color of the buildings. The sandstone used to build them is locally found in Rajasthan. In the left corner, on the horizon you can see the numerous windmills and on the right hand corner is the main railway station.
This structure is "Salem Singh ki Haveli" (the house of Salem Singh). He was a tyrant who lived during the days of king Jaisal. As a result the locals used to call this place: Jalim (cruel) singh ki haveli. The "Salem Singh ki Haveli" had multi terraces and this picture shows us on the middle one.
