The EMU also termed as "Local Train" is the heart of Mumbai city. It is the backbone of the public transport system and commutes people from distances of 71 Kms on the Main Western railway, 52 Kms on the Harbor line and a whooping 123 Kms on the Main Central line.
This picture is of a Jessop built CR (Central Railway) unit consisting of 9 rakes. This particular one is standing in the yard at Thane (on the CR Main line) awaiting its duty.

This one is yet another model manufactured by Jessop plying on the WR (Western railway) caught in action somewhere between Ville-Parle and Santacruz. you can see the typical Mumbai crowd commuting in the same.
