Using a Solar Filter, not viewing or projecting the sun directly with a scope, you can get some wonderful views. My first view was of the sun at 40X. In this view you can see the whole sun includeing its sunspots. The sunspots appear as dark areas of the sun. They really need higher magnification to see better. Under 100X you can see the amazing detail these spots have to offer! You can see that the umbra (the really dark part in the middle) and Penumbra ( The lighter Crinckled part surrounding the Umbra) are easily visible with lots of detail present. Soon you find that one spot is actually not one spot but many spots combined to appear as one, just like a double star! You can see the detail of the spots very Crinkled edges. The sun is a great object and worth getting a filter for!
