Saionji is the loser of the series, being a jerk as well.  Passing most of his time at the Tendo hall, he his the team's captain, and also the vice-president of the Student council.  His social life is rather platonic; with only one male friend, and a bunch of groupies, the bishounen remains lonely, and bitter.

Saionji is a loser partly because he failed in keeping Himemiya, and in winning her back; but if so, every dueilist, beside Utena and Touga, are losers too.  Saionji will never be truly loved by Anthy, and he is obsessed by Touga, his friend, who surpasses him in every way.
