Hello everyone and welcome to my first published fanfic. This is supposed to be a first season, humorous (I hope) romance. I'm using the Japanese names for all the SM purists out there. For the purpose of this story: Rei and Mamoru are still dating, Mamoru is secretly attracted to Usagi, Usagi thinks Mamoru is hot but doesn't want to take Rei's boyfriend, Minako has joined the group, the senshi don't know who Tuxedo Kamen is and vice versa, and they are still looking for the princess.
That was a mouthful.
Today Setsuna will be reading the Standard Disclaimer:
Sailor Pluto sets down her time staff and looks at the piece of paper confused. "The Lady Analla has asked me to confirm that she has not at any time in the past, nor at any time in the present, nor will she at any time in the future lay claim to Sailor Moon."
"Sailor Moon is owned by a brilliant lady in Japan, Takeuchi Naoko, and whoever else she has sold the rights to."
There I hope everyone's satisfied. Sailor Pluto was especially mad because she had to abandon the Time Gates. If anything interrupts the time stream then I'm blaming it on the lawyers.
Usagi tossed uncomfortably beneath the covers. DEATH!! That was what all of her dreams had been about lately. Her death, the deaths of her family, the other Senshi, even Tuxedo Kamen.
"No." She moaned quietly as another nightmare sequence began.
"They're all gone you realize." A voice echoed from nothingness. "You the champion of love and justice. You couldn't help them." It mocked. "Your friends, your family, your love. You caused their deaths."
"NO!" Sailor Moon denied turning her head away from the apparition that stood before her.
"Come." Death invited. "Look at your friends."
Death pulled back his cape to reveal the last moments of everyone Tsukino Usagi had ever loved.
Luna glanced up from the windowsill. "I wish I knew what to do." She thought quietly; frustrated because she wasn't sure what the best thing to do would be. The nightmares had begun nearly a week ago. The first night Usagi had kicked Luna out of bed twice!
Luna had become immune to Usagi's nighttime restlessness so after being kicked out of bed the second time she chose to sleep in the windowsill.
"I'd never sleep on the floor again." Whenever she did that no matter where she slept Usagi's radar would go off and she always managed to step on Luna at least once before the night was over.
"Even that time I slept under the bed didn't help." Luna thought; although, she never had figured out exactly why Usagi needed her bunny slippers in the middle of the night. After that she'd tried sleeping on the dresser, until Usagi mistook her for an alarm clock and almost knocked her senseless. The windowsill had been the only safe place left. (If she had to she could escape out the window before a certain odango atama decided that she needed fresh air at 2 am.)
Normally Luna would've ended up going to Mina's or one of the other Senshi's, but she was very worried about her charge. The girls had fought five youmas in the past three days and Sailor Moon was the most depleted, she was the one who had used the most energy to defeat their enemies. That was the only reason that Luna didn't wake her up. Even with nightmares her body needed the sleep.
Usagi watched horrified, unable to look away. "Please stop." She begged Death.
Death only stared at her its calm visage unmarked. The massacre continued.
"Leave them alone." Usagi yelled. "I command you to let them be." A silvery-pink light suffused the room, the color of a morning sunrise.
Death screamed in pain as a steel-tipped rose hit its chest. The apparition burst into red rose petals. Sailor Moon turned and looked at her champion.
"Tuxedo Kamen." She gasped slightly.
The figure in black was silent gesturing for her to come to him. Usagi eagerly rushed towards her hero.
"You think he can save you?" An emotionless voice asked. "I can defeat any enemy, they all come to me in the end."
Rose petals swirled around Tuxedo Kamen turning into sharply honed razors. They shredded his cape, blood streamed from infinitesimal cuts crisscrossing his skin. The valiant figure collapsed to the ground. Usagi was stunned, she fell to the ground besides her beloved. An unhuman keening filled the air as she mourned all that she'd lost.
"That's it." Luna said standing up. Sleep or no sleep she was going to wake Usagi. The bunny-clad girl sat up abruptly moaning, tears rolled down her cheeks. Then a serene look came over her face and she lay back down clutching her bunny to her chest.
"What happened?" Luna was stunned. She watched Usagi for another half-hour, but she didn't stir again.
"I guess her nightmares are gone." Luna yawned heavily as she kneaded the blanket and then fell into a deep slumber herself.
A finger came up and wiped away the tears that had begun to fall down her face. Usagi looked at Tuxedo Kamen, he was unscathed and all the rose petals had disappeared.
"How?" She whispered amazed at the change wondering if it would stay this way or if it was another of Death's tricks.
"No." Tuxedo Kamen answered her as they both stood up. "Your love is one of the strongest powers in this universe. We have defeated death once and we have done so again. Believe me Serenity."
Serenity nodded her belief. The silvery-pink light returned and when it left the princess and her prince were dancing underneath the light of the full moon dressed in silk spun by a fairy's hand.
Serenity rested her head on Endymion's chest, they swayed slowly to the music. "Why can't we stay here forever? I miss you Endymion."
Silence was her only answer.
"I wish I could be in your arms for real and not just in this dream world."
Usagi's transformation brooch lifted off of her dresser and spun slowly accompanied by an airy song. It came to rest on her chest. A burst of light filled the room and then all was dark.
Luna's eyes snapped open her pupils slitting. The light was brilliant, she looked at Usagi, surprised that she hadn't awakened. The light pulsed brighter and brighter until Luna was forced to close her eyes.
Abruptly as the light had appeared, it left.
"Usagi, are you all right?" Luna asked as she made her way to the bed by feel, still blinded from the light. She jumped up to the bed, but there was no familiar lump. The guardian cat rushed over to the light switch and turned it on swiftly. (AN: She is a cat with special powers, so don't question how she turned the light on.) Light flooded the room and revealed that a certain blond-headed girl was not in it.
Luna quickly checked the rest of the house.
In desperation Luna returned to the room and found Usagi's communicator. She pressed the all call button.
"What is it?" Rei asked grumpily. "Can't the youmas wait until tomorrow?"
Luna waited until all the other senshi were on before she answered Rei's question.
"Usagi's missing." She stated simply.
"What?" The senshi echoed each other.
"Usagi is gone, I need each of you to come to here so we can start searching for her."
Usagi slowly awakened from her dream. She yawned and stretched languorously. "I wanna go back to sleep." She thought keeping her eyes shut. Shivering she reached for her covers.
Shocked she pulled her hand back. That was most definitely not her covers. An arm enfolded Usagi and pulled her into a broad, firm chest.
"This is not happening... I'm still dreaming... Oh please wake up... oh please wake up."
Usagi didn't mind dreaming about tall, dark handsome strangers; but to imagine herself in bed with one. It was just too weird.
Unfortunately this dream was too real. Usagi managed to pull an arm free, somewhere she had heard that if you pinched yourself then you would wake up. She grabbed a huge chunk of her upper forearm and squeezed for all she was worth.
"Owwww." She cried letting go.
That had huuuurrrttt. Which meant that this wasn't a dream.
Breathing slowly trying to not hyperventilate Usagi turned slowly in the man's arms her eyes shut, she had to see who he was. She finished turning and then opened her eyes up slowly.
"Please let it be Daddy." she thought. "Please let me have gone into my parents' room."
She opened her eyes slowly, the room was lit by a silvery moonbeam.
Usagi looked up into her captor's face.
"NOOOOOOO!!!!!!" She screamed loudly falling out of the bed.
It was Mamoru Chiba.
